Erik Adair was a amateur snowboarder and rode for Perfect Snow & Skate, Ogio bags and Riderforce. He won and placed high ranks in various snowboarding competitions throughout Utah. He learned to edit skate and snowboarding videos with his friends during a computer tech class in high school, which allowed him to put together he's sponsor me video and get noticed.
He gave it all up to serve a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints. Not knowing where he would be sent to go, he was called to serve the people of Jamaica.
Upon returning he fell in love with a girl (Tasha) from his home town and was married and has 3 children. As a way to support a family he would work all day as a Electrician and go to Salt Community College at night to complete his apprenticeship program to receive his Journeyman license. He claims he wired this city on rock and roll. From wiring starter homes to Salt Lake City Airport he's wired it all.
On the side he has put together wedding videos along with his sister Calli's wedding video where he met Hayes Broadhead.
Erik's own words,
For Christmas one year Alden Jack paid for my brother in-law Hayes Broadhead to take a movie script college course and ironically one of the class assignments was to write a script for a movie. Hayes needed someone to film the movie and he asked me to do it. I looked at him and saw a younger version of myself trying to be a professional snowboarder, I could tell he was hungry for it. Sometimes we tend to wait to get some big corporation's attention to sponsor us to full fill our dream, when in reality you just need to take the bull by the horns and sponsor yourself. I decided to help him. I had to buy a camera and lighting and audio equipment, rebuild a computer and upgrade software to meet the demands of the quality of film we were trying to achieve. Hayes and I would work out during the week to stay in shape and go over what props would be needed for each scene. I was learning how to operate the new camera. Hayes was inviting people to be in the film and finding locations and getting permission to film there and all the while we still had our day job me as an electrician and Hayes laying carpet. Weekends were for filming and nights were for editing. Alden Jack helped by creating music along with Janiel Nilsson. I can see why there is hundreds of people and millions of dollars that are involved in making a movie. It wasn't about the money for Hayes he just wanted to be a movie star and do it with his friends and family. I find it fascinating what the human body is capable of. When I see people in the Olympics or X games push the boundaries of reality its inspiring to me. I truly believe we are the offspring of deity. However, there is no substitute for experience the outcome could have been better with professional actors and a production company. But life is about learning growing and spend time with the ones we love why not make an excuse to get together and make a movie! Do things that are challenging and humble you Haha.
The movie "Chasing Redemption" is available on Amazon Prime!
