Ramrakha Varma was born in 1901 as Ramrakha Chawla in the Punjab Region of British India. He was one of the founders of Varma Films, best known for Sohag Raat (1948), Patanga (1949) and Badal (1951). He was married to Vadki, with whom he had three sons (Roshanlal, Kailash & Baldevraj Verma) and a daughter (Kamla). He died in 1967 in Bombay, India.
