- Since 2012 sometimes works under the pseudonym of Marla Jane Lynch. It had been a nickname for many years before that.

- Studied acting at The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and Screenwise under the tutelage of Terry Serio, Lewis Fitz-Gerald, Philip Holder, Nathaniel Dean, Denise Roberts, Steve Rodgers, Adam Moulds, Dave Newman, Grant Thompson, Professor John Higgins, Sonia Todd, Felix Williamson, Victoria Longley, and Bill Pepper. Also trained in London with Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop where she was part of the Masterclass.

- In her amateur theatre years in Perth, Marla won an ITA Finley Award for being the arse-end of a tap-dancing Panto horse, which officially makes her an award winning horse's arse (Ba-dmm tshhh), and she is proud of it.
