The ceremony capped a full weekend for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which hosted the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday.

HBO/Max’s Sesame Street, Disney+’s The Muppets Mayhem and Jack Black were among the winners at the second annual Children’ &’s and Family Emmy Awards, which were handed out Sunday night by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Among its wins, Sesame Street (in its 56th season) was named best preschool series, while The Muppets Mayhem — which was canceled last month after airing only one season — was named best children’s or family viewing series.
Black, meanwhile, won his first-ever Emmy for best voice performance in a children’s or young teen program for his work as Po on Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
An excited Black took the stage to accept his award, giving a high kick and belting out “Kung Fu Panda, the dragon knight!”
“I’m really nervous and stoked to be here,” he added, noting that he was cast in the role 20 years ago.

Humanitas, the organization that annually honors film and television writers whose work best explores the human condition, has revealed its 2023 winners.
Among the prizewinners is Craig Mazin, who scripted Season 1 The Last of Us episode “Long Long Time” that starred Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett. This year’s Humanitas Prizes for screenwriting, usually handed out at Beverly Hilton ceremony, were announced via the Los Angeles Times this year in solidarity with the unions on strike, including the Unite Here Local 11 hospitality workers. And on top of awarding shows like The Last of Us and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Humanitas, an organization founded in 1974, also honored the striking Writers Guild of America itself with its “Voice for Change” award. Exclusive: Lisa Muse Bryant, who exec produced the second season of NBC’s Kenan, is staying in the NBCUniversal family.
Muse Bryant has struck an overall deal with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. She will develop and produce projects for the studio.
It comes as she is currently working on two projects for the studio; as an exec producer on Amazon Freevee’s Untitled Shea Serrano Project, which was formerly known as Primo, and as a co-exec producer on its series reboot of Field of Dreams for Peacock.
Other credits include as a co-exec producer of ABC’s Black-ish, where she spent three seasons and earned an Emmy Award nomination, and as a consulting producer on Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Amazon’s Freevee has assembled the cast for its upcoming Shea Serrano Project, formerly titled Primo. Joining the comedy as series regulars will be Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Martin Martinez, Carlos Santos, Johnny Rey Diaz, Henri Esteve, Jonathan Medina, Nigel Siwabessy, Christina Vidal, Efrain Villa and Stakiah Washington. The project hails from Serrano and The Good Place creator Mike Schur.
The single-camera series, inspired by Serrano’s life growing up in San Antonio, follows a teenager balancing college aspirations, societal expectations, and a hectic home life, anchored by his single mom and five uncles.
Diaz-Silverio will portray Rafa, a 16-year-old high school junior who must balance his mom and five uncles’ opinions after finding out that he has the chance to be the first person in his family to ever attend college.
Rey Diaz will portray Rollie, one of Rafa’s uncles and the middle child of his brothers. He’s the wildman of the family.

NBC will air original episodes of all five of its comedy series — returning shows Young Rock, Kenan and Mr. Mayor – and new series Grand Crew and American Auto — during the week of December 13, ahead of their regular 2022 season premieres. The standalone holiday specials were initially announced in May before Grand Crew and American Auto had been given series orders.

Exclusive: Glee alumna Amber Riley is returning to series television as the star of another music-driven broadcast comedy series. Riley is set to headline and co-executive produce Dream, a single-camera comedy in development at NBC from writer-producer Lisa Muse Bryant (Black-ish), producer Neil Meron and Universal TV where Meron is based.
This marks a reunion for Riley and Meron. The actress and Grammy-nominated singer starred in The Wiz Live!, Meron and his late producing partner Craig Zadan’s highly-rated live musical on NBC.
