Kelly Rowland is on a press tour promoting her Netflix film Mea Culpa and was asked about Beyoncé’s new country album and the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion.
Rowland and her Mea Culpa co-star Trevante Rhodes stopped by radio station V-103 Atlanta for an interview on The Big Tigger Morning Show with Jazzy McBee to talk about their film. However, things turned awkward when the show’s host asked about Beyoncé’s music.
“Your sis just dropped a whole new couple of songs, and it’s my understanding that Renaissance II may or may not be country-based, and then there’s a rumor going around that Renaissance III may be, either rock-based or a DC reunion,” Big Tigger asked.
Rowland replied with a wink, “That is her business to talk about, not mine.”
Jazzy McBee intervened and said, “And I know that you all are tired of answering those questions,...

Narrowing down the best movies in any genre is tough, but for lesbian films you have to begin with a reductive question: What is a lesbian film? What, in fact, is a lesbian?.
Must the film focus primarily on a gay storyline, or can it feature strong lesbian characters doing something entirely different than just being lesbians? Is subtext enough, or must the sapphic be explicit? How much cinephile wrath will rain down on us for the absence of a certain recent Oscar winner?
Compared to the stand-outs of queer television, the best lesbian movies have relatively little time to convey their perspective on the vast, varied, (sometimes) vaginal lesbian experience. And yet, ultimately, the best lesbian films honor not just their own perspectives, but also the glory and traditions of all of queer cinema. Strong women, high entertainment value, and bold visuals reign supreme.

Jane Fonda and Rose McGowan Strip Down the Myths of Movie Sex Scenes in ‘Body Parts’ Trailer — Watch
What is the effect of sex scenes in film? Who decides what is “sexy”?
Jane Fonda is among the many artists featured in the documentary “Body Parts,” which addresses what it means to undress onscreen. While some movies act as an informal sexual education for audiences, others act as vehicles to deepen the patriarchal straight male fantastical definition of what it means to be “sexy.”
Filmmakers Kristy Guevara-Flanagan and Helen Hood Scheer capture Fonda, Rose McGowan, Karyn Kusama, Rosanna Arquette, Joey Soloway, Alexandra Billings, Angela Robinson, Emily Meade, and David Simon in the latest doc from Shout! Factory.
“I was at a place in my life where if you were asked to do something, especially by a man, you did it,” Fonda says in the film about filming the iconic “Barbella.”

Exclusive: Shout! Studios has acquired North American rights to Body Parts, a documentary that takes a critical look at the way Hollwood shoots sex scenes.
Kristy Guevara-Flanagan directed and Helen Hood Scheer produced the feature that “traces the evolution of ‘sex’ on-screen,” according to a release, “exposing the uncomfortable realities behind some of the most iconic scenes in cinema history and celebrating the bold creators leading the way for change.”
The documentary, which held its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, includes interviews with actors Jane Fonda, Rosanna Arquette, Rose McGowan, Emily Meade and Alexandra Billings, directors Karyn Kusama and Angela Robinson, and TV show creators David Simon and Joey Soloway. Those industry insiders “provide a nuanced look at how different bodies––sizes, abilities, races, genders, and sexualities––are seen on screen and how the mechanisms of filmmaking center the male perspective. The Movie: "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women"
Where You Can Stream It: Tubi, Kanopy, and Freevee
The Pitch: This hidden gem from 2017 is billed as the true story of the invention of Wonder Woman, and indeed, it is a partly fictionalized biographical film about William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans), who created the character. But this is about as far from a comic book movie as you can get. Instead, it's a tender love story, the kind that's scarcely told. It's not about two people who find each other, but three, and the fulfillment, exploration, and brave subversion that comes with their lifelong relationship.
William, a professor and psychologist, begins the film married to his research partner, Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall). Soon,...

To anyone not paying attention to industry news, it sure seems like DC Comics adaptations are doing great. Not only are The Flash, Stargirl, and Superman & Lois continuing the legacy established by the Arrowverse (even if not all of them are actually in the Arrowverse), but The Sandman has become a huge hit. But upon closer inspection, one realizes those do nothing to raise the esteem of Warner Bros.’ streaming service HBO Max. While the former three do show up on the service after premiering on The CW, The Sandman is a Netflix property, bringing acclaim to an HBO Max rival.
While this might be a disappointing reality for those who hoped that HBO Max would be the home for all things DC-related — after all Warner Bros. has owned DC Comics since 1969 — the third-party approach might be the saving grace for some highly anticipated series. We already know that the...

Two DC Comics series from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions that were in development at HBO Max, “Constantine” and “Madame X”, are no longer moving forward at the streamer, TheWrap has learned.
Warner Bros. TV and Bad Robot still remain high on both shows and intend them to shop them to other platforms and are hopeful they’ll land at a new home soon, an individual with knowledge of the projects said.
The individual added that the decision to move on from the shows was not a creative decision or a slight on the quality of the projects but that HBO and HBO Max are over-programmed with DC content, including seven different DC shows including “Doom Patrol,” “Peacemaker,” “Pennyworth” and “Titans” and three others currently in development, not to mention other fantasy programming like “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us” on HBO.

Update: Now that Keanu Reeves is returning for the Constantine sequel, you might be wondering where that leaves the Constantine TV series which was being developed by J.J. Abrams for HBO Max. It seems that the streamer has decided to pass on the project, as well as the Madame X series from Abrams and Angela Robinson. Neither project is completely dead as both will be shopped to other platforms, with Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television expecting them to find new homes.

Keanu Reeves returning to the Constantine franchise, as revealed by Deadline earlier this afternoon, has thrown up some dust in the TV business.
HBO Max has passed on the J.J. Abrams-exec produced television series version of Constantine, which was being written by British writer Guy Bolton, and a series based on DC Comics’ Madame X with Angela Robinson.
Both were in development at the streamer and came from Abrams’ Bad Robot in association with Warner Bros. Television.
The fact that Warner Bros. is developing another installment of Constantine on the film side with Reeves attached to return with Francis Lawrence directing and Akiva Goldsman writing, didn’t help its small-screen sibling series’ chances.
However, the series, which was a darker reboot of the DC character, inspired by the character’s appearance in the Hellblazer comics, that takes place in contemporary London, had been in development for over two years,...

The only soul Satan himself would come up to collect is getting a follow-up film. “Constantine” is back.
Variety can confirm that Warner Bros. will make a sequel to the 2005 supernatural action film “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves. The blockbuster star will reunite with original director Francis Lawrence, best known for taking over the “Hunger Games” franchise after the first film.
“Constantine” has been a hot property in Hollywood, sparking a NBC series created by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, and was even more recently being developed into a new series for HBO Max by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. However, sources tell Variety that the HBO Max series is now dead, although the streamer had been in early talks with an actor for the lead role before the new movie came together. Four scripts were written for the new adaptation set in contemporary London.

Some demon-dealing magicians get all the luck. After nearly two decades, Keanu Reeves will return to the role of John Constantine in a sequel to the 2005 cult hit "Constantine." Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has greenlit a "Constantine 2" starring Reeves and re-teaming him with director Francis Lawrence. "Constantine" was Lawrence's directorial debut and he went on to direct "I am Legend" and the "Hunger Games" sequels, so he's sharpened his talents and could potentially be back with an even better tale of Constantine's troubles. (John is always in trouble. That's his whole thing.)
While many fans might be asking "why now?," they should really be asking "why not?" Not only is Reeves still killing it as an action star in the "John Wick" franchise, but the character of Constantine has gained new interest due to the success of Netflix's "The Sandman" series, which turned the character into Joanna Constantine...

It’s been almost five years since The New Yorker published Ronan Farrow’s first exposé of Hollywood’s ugliest open secret, that Harvey Weinstein was a sexual predator, taking the #MeToo movement worldwide and forever shifting the conversation around the film industry’s horrifying treatment of women. The flurry of similar allegations that followed has slowed to a trickle, but there are many women in Hollywood who want to keep the issues front and center. The message is loud and clear in “Body Parts,” a clever and damning documentary about the history of nudity, sex scenes, and women’s bodies on film.
In a brisk 86 minutes, “Body Parts” mashes together interviews with the likes of Jane Fonda and Rosanna Arquette, analysis from film historians, intimacy coordinator trainings, and whirlwind montages from both classic and contemporary films. There’s a lot of ground to cover, and Guevara-Flanagan runs a tight ship.

In America, sex is always on the mind. There is a superficial skittishness when it comes to acknowledging this, but the politics of sex are everywhere — especially in film and television. In the last year alone, various writers have considered the subject: They have debated about the death of the sex scene and exalted the pleasure of watching female orgasms. The internet has fought and agreed to disagree on the male gaze, the female gaze and other arguments about the sex scene’s intended audience.
Lurking in the margins of these investigations and dialogues are questions of simple mechanics: What goes into conjuring an erotic mood? What gives a film its sensual aura? How does a sex scene get made? The gift of Kristy Guevara-Flanagan’s Body Parts is that it, at least partially, gives us some answers to these questions.

MetFilm Sales has acquired worldwide rights for filmmaker Kristy Guevara-Flanagan’s feature documentary “Body Parts” ahead of its world premiere Sunday in Tribeca Film Festival’s Spotlight section.
The pic shows the evolution of desire and sex on screen from a female perspective, “allowing women to reclaim the parts of themselves that have been objectified and exploited for decades,” according to a statement. It uncovers the processes involved in creating intimacy for mainstream American film and television, the toll these scenes exact on those directly involved, and the impact on women and girls in the real world.
The documentary features candid interviews with actors and creators who are advocating for real change, including Jane Fonda, Rosanna Arquette, Joey Soloway, Angela Robinson, Karyn Kusama, Rose McGowan, Alexandra Billings, Emily Meade and David Simon.

Tony Scott was no stranger to remakes, having provided his take on 1974 classic The Taking of Pelham 123, and even considered updates on The Warriors and The Wild Bunch before he sadly took his own life in 2012. Now, with a sequel to his mega-hit Top Gun arriving later this year, his debut film The Hunger is also being revisited in the form of a remake.

Much has been made in recent years of the need to support, uplift, and, for the love of God — finance —more women filmmakers, but how many lesbian films have shaken out from all that hand-wringing? At a breezy 60 minutes, the film has much in common with that other lesbian tradition, the potluck, in terms of the topics it covers. There’s a little o’ this, a little o’ that, plus plenty of vegan and gluten-free options.

During back to back panels at Variety’s Inclusion Summit, the founder of Me Too and the executive director of entertainment at Time’s Up, among others, discussed how far the movements have come since they started, and also how much work there still is to do. “How To Get Away With Murder” writer and producer Angela Robinson recalled why the Time’s Up movement originated and its “critical” early moments. “It was born out of Harvey and pain and this moment in our industry. You knew what was going on, maybe not the extent, but it was there,” Robinson said. In the year since it was founded, Robinson and Time’s Up executive director of entertainment Nithya Raman agree that one of its greatest achievements has been setting up the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which helps provide legal and financial aid to people who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.
