The seventh annual Living for Today 'Shing-a-Ling A Night with the Broadway Urchins' was held earlier this week at Joe's Pub 425 Lafayette St. After bringing down the house at the sixth annual concert in January 2014 with a surprise appearance, the three 'urchins' from the Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors Carla J. Hargrove, Trisha Jeffrey, DeQuina Moore took to the stage in a concert of their very own, featuring hits from the radio, the stage, and of course from the musical that brought them together. The concert benefits Gilana's Fund, which celebrates and encourages educational programming promoting acceptance and understanding of our communities, each other, and ourselves. To date, the Fund has raised more than 40,000. Check out photos from inside the concert below...

Broadway In Chicago just announced full casting for the upcoming national tour of Flashdance - The Musical, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation. Joining Jillian Mueller as Alex Owens and Matthew Hydzik as Nick Hurley are Katie Webber as Tess, Kelly Felthous as Gloria, DeQuina Moore as Kiki, Jo Ann Cunningham as Hannah, David R. Gordon as Jimmy, Matthew Henerson as Harry and Christian Whelan in the role of C.C. flashdance - the musical will perform at the Cadillac Palace Theatre 151 West Randolph for a limited engagement from Aug. 6 - 18, 2013.

Joyful Noise manages to bring the occasional laugh and some good musical numbers, but they aren.t enough to keep the movie from being easily forgettable. The laughs come from the chemistry between Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, but other aspects of the film felt forced and fell flat. Written and directed by Todd Graff (Bandslam and Camp), the film stars Latifah, Parton, Keke Palmer, Jeremy Jordan, Dexter Darden, Courtney B. Vance, Kris Kristofferson (in a blink and you miss him performance), Angela Grovey, Paul Woolfolk, Francis Jue, Jesse L. Martin, Andy Karl, Dequina Moore, and Roy Huang.
