Simply doing a literal red carpet for a red carpet event isn’t enough anymore. Especially when it’s a party as big as the Met Gala.
Each year, the Met Gala rolls out a new carpet design that’s inspired by the theme of the evening.
This year, the star-studded crowd, which includes co-chairs Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth, is walking up steps that are covered in a cream color with mossy green accents along the sides.
The design choice is in keeping with the dress code of the 2024 Met Gala, “The Garden of Time,” which is inspired by a J.G. Ballard story.
Meanwhile, the sides of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s storied steps are lined with greenery-covered barriers between the stars and photographers and reporters, and the walls are painted with forest scenes that look like they could be out of an old masters painting.

When seeking a Mother’s Day gift that’s sure to be appreciated, consider that a watch checks multiple boxes — the seemingly endless variety of models ensures a gift that perfectly expresses the personal style of every wife or mom, who will wear it while being reminded daily of the giver’s thoughtfulness. No matter whether your favorite mom prefers iconic elegance from Cartier, high fashion from Chanel or the status of a Patek Philippe, these and other watchmakers offer a bounty of coveted choices.
Women’s timepieces are also enjoying a moment in the Swiss watch industry, which has recognized — albeit somewhat belatedly — that female consumers desire the same level of features and handcraft in mechanical designs as their male counterparts. It’s undeniably a thrilling time to be a woman who is a timepiece aficionado, as the ability to develop a watch wardrobe that’s multilayered and decidedly personal is easier than ever.

Kanye West has reduced the asking price of his 4,000-square-foot Malibu property from $53 million to $39 million due to difficulties finding a buyer for the gutted house.
In 2021, West acquired the residence, designed by Tadao Ando, for an astounding $57.3 million from bicycle designer Richard Sachs. He proceeded to strip the house of all its fixtures and furnishings, including removing windows and doors. The following year, West enlisted contractors to commence extensive renovations. However, construction abruptly ceased within a year, leaving parts of the structure exposed to the elements. Reports indicate that neither West nor his contractors have been seen at the property since. This serves as yet another unfinished project in West’s portfolio.
The challenges of incomplete renovations and the inability to sell the house are not the only issues with the Malibu property.
In September 2023, Tony Saxton, a contractor involved in the project, filed a lawsuit against West that cited hazardous work conditions.

Kanye West is putting his highly unusual Malibu property on the market.
The rapper wants to sell his beachfront Malibu property for $53 million, which was $4 million less than he paid for. The price is largely slashed mainly due to a “gut renovation” West ordered.
The Malibu property will need to be completed with Hvac, interior finishes, doors, windows, and utilities that will need about several million dollars of renovations.
The house was designed by well-known architect Tadao Ando, and is one of the few houses he created.
West has several issues connected to the home. He was sued by a contractor in September who claimed he was forced to work 16 hours a day on the house and was fired for not ripping out the electrical system and replacing it with wire generators. He claimed this would be an illegal fire hazard.
West was reportedly trying to turn the property into a “bomb shelter.

Jason Oppenheim is looking to sell a major star’s Malibu mansion!
The 46-year-old Selling Sunset star and Oppenheim Group owner has listed Kanye West‘s beachfront property.
If you keep up with Selling Sunset, you know that the O Group is no stranger to handling million dollar deals or working with very famous clients.
Keep reading to find out more…
According to People, Kanye paid $57 million for the Malibu pad in 2021 and is now listing it for a little less, at $53 million.
Jason shares that the lower price point is reflective of Kanye having the interiors removed, so it’s essentially a blank canvas with the buyer being able to install their own finishes.
“The interior finishes have been removed, and this creates an unbelievably rare opportunity to buy a Picasso on the water with the ability to restore it to your own specific standards, with modern technology and excellence,...

Kanye “Ye” West, whose business empire suffered major repercussions amid the star’s ongoing antisemitic outbursts, is selling a Malibu property that he bought in late 2021 for $57.3 million in an off-market deal.
Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Tadao Ando, the house features a concrete exterior in keeping with the acclaimed architect’s streamlined brutalist ethos. In the couple of dozen months that Ye has owned the property, the music performer and designer removed the home’s interiors, leaving it essentially gutted.
Now, instead of renovating the four-bedroom beachfront house on Malibu Road, Ye has decided to sell it, with a price tag of $53 million (he’s listing it at a loss).
“What’s missing are the interiors,” says Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, who is listing the house exclusively, estimating that the new owner would need to spend several million dollars to redo the inside of the home. “It’s...

Multi Dn alum Andrew De Zen, whose collaborations with Alaskan Tapes have been well documented on our pages, returns to Directors Notes with Of Woods And Seas, his latest and most ambitious work with the ambient electronic artist. Of Woods And Seas tells the story of a father who’s come to a point in his life where he needs to reflect on himself and his relationship with his son. De Zen depicts this man’s ruminations across a series of vignettes, each of which being underpinned by the song’s multi-instrumental ambience. On a visual level, De Zen embraces the spirituality of his narrative displaying his character both reflecting on his fatherhood and in awe of these strange, ethereal shapes. Star couple Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles purchased their $200 million mansion with cash.
They recently splurged on a 30,000 sq ft abode in Malibu from art collector William Bell, and insiders have told TMZ they don’t have a mortgage on the property, reports aceshowbiz.com.
However, this may not come as a surprise as the ’99 Problems’ hitmaker is worth around $2.5 billion, in part due to his alcohol brands Ace of Spades and D’Usse, his fine art collection, and his own back catalogue, while his wife’s music and movie career have seen her amass a fortune close to $500 million, which is only set to increase with her ongoing ‘Renaissance’ tour because the concert series is expected to generate more than $1 billion.
It was revealed last week that the property deal was the most expensive home in the state of California, breaking the old record of $177 million, and it is the...

Beyonce and Jay-Z just bought themselves a picturesque view of the Pacific Ocean — and, on a clear day, quite possibly heaven — after reportedly dropping a whopping $200 million for an opulent compound in Malibu.
According to TMZ, who first broke the news, the power couple plunked down the small fortune for the 30,000-square-foot home in an area known to rich folks as Billionaire’s Row. The outlet reports the purchase price makes the sale the most expensive real estate ever sold in California, surpassing the previous record of $177 million.
For the record, the most expensive piece of real estate ever sold belongs to the state of New York, where someone bought a New York City apartment for $238 million.
As for Bey and Jay’s new digs, it’s a beaut designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando, whom the outlet also reports is currently designing Kanye West’s house, which is...

Power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce just bought one of the greatest architectural masterpieces in California – a 30,000-square-foot home.
Real estate sources told tmz.com that the couple paid $200 million for the property, making it the most expensive home ever sold in the entire state of California, eclipsing the previous record of $177 million.
It’s also the second most expensive real estate deal in the country – the top being $238 million for an NYC apartment.
The home was listed for a whopping $295 million. The house sits on an 8-acre bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area.
It’s also an architectural jewel, designed by Tadao Ando, a Japanese master architect, who is also designing the house rapper Kanye West bought in Malibu.
The house was owned and built by William Bell, one of the biggest art collectors in the world. It took Bell almost 15 years to build the all-concrete structure.

Once Beyoncé concludes her “Renaissance World Tour,” she’ll have a brand new home to return to — and a very luxurious one at that.
According to TMZ, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have purchased a 30,000-square foot home in Malibu for a record-breaking price tag of $200 million. Apparently that’s the biggest real estate transaction in California history, smashing the previous record of $177 million. It’s also the second most expensive home real estate deal in US history — behind only a $238 million transaction for a property in New York City.
Incredibly, Beyoncé and Jay-Z actually got something of a deal, as the property was originally listed for $295 million. But with a combined net worth of $2.5 billion, the power couple likely had no problem securing a mortgage.
