- I am an alumnus of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and have, over the past 40+ years, acted and/or directed and/or written hundreds of performances. I got the acting bug in high school and have stayed involved in theatre ever since. I began my acting career as a child in Lafayette, Louisiana. After high school, I moved to Houston, Texas, and studied theatre at the University of Houston, under Cecil Pickett and Sidney Berger. I spent a summer with a small theater group in the Midwest, developing new plays with playwrights, including Robert Patrick and Stephen Nelson. In 1981, I appeared in the film Face Value, by Mars Hill Productions. I then moved to Los Angeles to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, in Pasadena, California. From 1983 to 1986 I was in the U.S. Navy and, after an honorable discharge, earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Doctorate in Jurisprudence, both from the University of Houston. Throughout my career practicing law, I stayed involved in acting/singing/writing/directing whenever possible. I have appeared in The Tooth Of Crime, by Sam Shepherd; Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard; Lone Star, by James McLure; The Man Who Came To Dinner, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart; Fiddler On The Roof, by Joseph Stein; Man Of La Mancha, by Dale Wasserman; The Sunshine Boys, by Neil Simon; The Odd Couple, by Neil Simon; Mary, Mary, by Jean Kerr; You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, by Charles M. Schulz, Clark Gesner, and John Gordon; Inherit The Wind, by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee; One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, by Dale Wasserman; The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams; Bell, Book, And Candle, by John Van Druten; Play It Again, Sam, by Woody Allen; Rain, Somerset Maugham; and Look Homeward, Angel (with Mercedes McCambridge) by Thomas Wolfe, to name just a few. I acted in and/or directed dozens of performances of Bats In Your Belfries, The Big Toy, and Willy The Kid, by Robin McGee. My original plays include The Adventure of the Diamond Death: Sherlock Holmes in Jefferson, Bobo and Earl, Lox And Loaded, The Why Are You Here People (published in Middle Tennessee State University's SHIFT literary journal), and Water, Water. My work has been produced and/or developed by the Haywood House Theater and the Bull Durham Playhouse, both in Jefferson, Texas, and The Nutt House in Granbury, Texas. Having now retired, and after decades on the stage, I am pursuing more on-screen work.- IMDb Mini Biography By: William A Smith
