When a cop, a wounded crime boss and a doctor are thrown together in the hustle and bustle of an emergency room, a hospital descends from a pristine sanctuary to an explosive battleground. Any film that opens with a massive car crash and thens sees Donnie Yen, now defrosted following the accident, take a massive piss (not the Only one in the movie either may I add) right out in the open, is guaranteed to be an attention grabber! If that’s not enough, Iceman is filled from the get-go with amazing wire-fu stunts mixed with some eye-popping CGI.
A reimagining of the 1989 kung-fu movie The Iceman Cometh, which starred Yuen Biao and Maggie Cheung – originally shot in 3D but only released on DVD and Blu-ray here in the UK in a 2D version – Iceman tells the story of a Ming Dynasty warrior transported to modern-day Hong Kong…

When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand moments during fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you...

If it's action overload you're craving, look no further. Whoever edited the trailer for Simon Yam's The Constable is clearly unfamiliar with the word restraint. Out now on Hong Kong DVD and Blu-Ray, Dennis Law's The Constable hits the ground running and doesn't stop. Law isn't known for subtlety either so this looks like it could be absolutely preposterous, the only question is, can Simon Yam keep The Constable from early retirement? Judging by this first look, the answer is a big fat no. Over the top, cheesy fun? It's amazing what a few beers can do... Synopsis: Dennis Law (Bad Blood) tackles fatherly love and righteousness in his latest police movie The Constable led by Simon Yam. A long-time vehicle commander in the police force, Lam Kwok Kuen (Simon Yam) raises a mentally challenged son by himself and is near his retirement days. Despite his age, he...

Available to buy from January 29, 2014, Benny Chan's The White Storm celebrates the brotherhood and camaraderie of three policemen played by three of Hong Kong's most sought-after actors; Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung. The White Storm finds Chan in full-on action territory here, and even if it is unlikely to reach the dizzy heights of John Woo in his heyday, The White Storm should serve up enough thrills to keep fans of the Hong Kong action genre satisfied. No word on an English or American release yet but this one certainly looks like one of the more likely contenders. Synopsis: Ma Ngan Tin (Lau Ching Wan), So Kin Chau (Louis Koo) and Cheung Tze Wai (Nick Cheung) met and bonded as kids and their friendship continued in police academy with their shared passion for law and justice. While Ngan Tin and Tze Wai get into the Narcotics Bureau upon graduation,...

Benny Chan cranks it up to 11 in his latest high-stakes crime thriller, but with the action, intrigue and melodrama all hitting fever pitch, The White Storm proves an entertaining, yet exhausting and unintentionally amusing affair.Three childhood friends, Tin (Lau Ching Wan), Wai (Nick Cheung) and Chow (Louis Koo), all joined the police force, and while Tin rose through the ranks to lead a narcotics bureau task force with Wai as his right hand man, Chow went deep undercover amidst a gang of drug-dealing triads. When Chow wants out, Tin pushes him in deeper, in the hope of catching a notorious drug kingpin operating out of Thailand, known as Eight-Faced Buddha (Lo Hoi Pang). But when the Thai operation goes awry, and only two of...

Not too long ago we saw a rather impressive list of films announced for the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival 2013. With titles like Gravity, 12 Years a Slave and The Fifth Estate all set to appear, I simply cannot wait for September to arrive. With all the Oscar contenders flying around though, it’s easy to forget about some of the other films at the festival.
With that in mind, the Midnight Madness lineup has been announced today, showcasing some quality horror/thriller films that will serve as a break from the serious, weighty dramas that popular the majority of the festival lineup.
Amongst the highlights are the world premiere of Ei Roth’s The Green Inferno as well as the next film from Lucky McKee, All Cheerleaders Die.
Additionally, Tiff also revealed their documentary lineup today, which can be seen below along with the Midnight Madness films.

The Toronto International Film Festival celebrates 25 years of Midnight Madness with a murderers’ row of wild cinematic thrills. Programmed by Colin Geddes, the international lineup aims right for the jugular with everything from an extraterrestrial gore-thriller and sinister sex-comedy, to an Asian exotic horror film and a visually-stunning reinvention of the Italian cannibal genre.
“Since its 1988 launch, the Midnight Madness programme emerged as a touchstone of cinematic shock, satiating the adventurous palate of bloodthirsty cinephiles from all over the world,” said Geddes, International Programmer for the Festival. “When the witching hour strikes and the human brain starts slipping into dream mode, the Ryerson Theatre will once again serve up a feast of phantasmagorical characters and jaw-dropping scenes, playing host to bizarre biological monstrosities, ruthless dominatrix gangs, paranormal mirrors, and the hijinks of supernatural cheerleaders.”

Johnnie To's pickpocket comedy is unexpectedly entertaining – and has the strangest imaginable influence
Johnnie To is the multi-talented Hong Kong director with a reputation here for hard-hitting crime and action: his Election (2005), about a fratricidal war for gangland primacy has many admirers; I found it clotted and self-conscious. This movie is lighter, easier and more likeable: it's a sprightly comedy caper about a pickpocket gang that pays eccentric homage to French cinema. But it's not Bresson. The movie on which it's modelled is, of all things, Jacques Demy's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Veteran tough guy Simon Yam plays Kei, the leader of a light-fingered gang roaming the Hong Kong streets, pinching purses and wallets and palming them quickly on to each other. Chung Chun Lei, played by Kelly Lin, is a beautiful, mysterious woman spying on Kei on behalf of ageing gang boss Mr Fu (Lo Hoi Pang...
