Danz CM, born as Danielle Suzanne Johnson, is a composer, music producer, song-writer, brand developer and the founder of Synth History and Channel 9 Records. She was born and raised in both Rock Hill and Woodridge in the Catskill Mountains area in upstate New York.
At the age of 18 she moved to New York City. Beginning her career under the moniker of Computer Magic, she garnered a cult following in Japan, touring there frequently and composing and producing custom pieces for commercials. Her music has been featured on MTV, Showtime, HBOMax, Netflix and in national and worldwide television ads. She has modeled clothes for the skate clothing brand X-Girl, founded by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon; and Sofia Coppola's clothing line Milkfed.
In 2019 she founded Synth History, a media site featuring musicians who embrace synthesizers. She has interviewed artists like Pete Townshend, Suzanne Ciani, James Murphy, Rick Wakeman, Oneohtrix Point Never, Vince Clarke and more.
In 2020, Danz began composing for films, including Gary Hustwit's short "The Map" and While Mortals Sleep directed by Alex Fofonoff.
