Loved cigars and fine scotch and wines. Had at least 88 pipes in his
drawer.
Had boats all his life. He even built and sailed his own sailboat.
Attended University of Toronto for Chemical Engineering for over a
year. Dropped out, much to his father's disappointment, to continue on
to what he loved: film.
Graduated from Ryerson University for Film and TV in 1953.
His wife, Glenys Maureen Jefferies Squires, kept her name after their
marriage for business reasons.
Had twin boys, Mark and Phil Sutherland. He met his wife, Glenys, when
she already had three children, Amanda, Carey, and Brett. They became
his stepchildren.
