- She was the Bad Girl of roller derby known as the "Demon On Wheels". Her injuries included 12 broken noses, four broken elbows, a broken collarbone, a broken tail bone and numerous cracked ribs during her roller derby career.
- She wore different colored skates and her varying hair colors of purple, green and polka-dot to name three and ultra white white lipstick against skin tanned to deep chocolate became trademarks.
- She successfully battled brain cancer twice in the past decade and melanoma but finally succumbed to liver cancer in 2006.
- She never officially retired from roller derby, but had not competed since 2000. In 2002 she returned to the track one final time to win a match race with Kenneth Loge III on the finale of RollerJam.
- In 2005, Calvello contributed many rare photos and clippings from her personal collection to the book Roller Derby Classics...and more! by Jim Fitzpatrick, published by Trafford Publishing. She also wrote the foreword to the book.
- Texas Roller Derby (TXRD), based in Austin, Texas, named their championship the Calvello Cup in her honor.
- Calvello had competed in roller derby for seven decades: the 1940s through the 2000s.
