Chris Hemsworth had his career-defining role in 2011 with the MCU film Thor. Since then, the actor has been in multiple Marvel films, playing the God of Thunder. While the actor has also appeared in films such as Extraction and Snow White and the Huntsman, he became a worldwide star and one of the highest-paid actors with the Thor and Avengers films.
However, the fourth solo film in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder was not as well-received as its predecessors. Despite being a commercial success, the film was criticized for its shoddy VFX and writing. Hemsworth has now come out and taken responsibility for the film’s disappointing response.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a strange time for the franchise. The post-"Avengers: Endgame" era saw Kevin Feige and co. trying to shepherd the concept of the multiverse into our collective consciousness while simultaneously introducing a host of new heroes and somewhat reinventing the MCU for a new generation. Much of it worked well, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" holding things down on the cinematic front. Meanwhile, "WandaVision" and "Hawkeye" made a good case for the McU's streaming age being a good development — a case that was later ruined by the poorly-reviewed "Secret Invasion."
But for every good entry in Phase 4, there was a "Thor: Love and Thunder" or a "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" to undermine them. Thankfully, Phase 4 will always remain beloved for introducing us to one of the best arguments for the MCU expanding into the world of streaming television: "Loki.

About over 30 projects are currently in development when it comes to MCU, slated for release in the next two years, with ‘Thor 5’ among them, according to increasingly loud whispers. Recently, Taika Waititi addressed the possibility of directing the fifth installment of the God of Thunder’s saga in the MCU, casually brushing it off, indicating it’s not on his current agenda.
Fans breathed a collective sigh of relief at his statement. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is widely regarded as the franchise’s pinnacle, with Taika masterfully blending humor and depth. However, some fans feel that ‘Love & Thunder’ veered off course during development. The film seemed to go overboard on many fronts, lacking a cohesive narrative and landing some jokes in questionable taste, leading to a perception of it being more of a parody than a serious superhero film.
It appears that the studio has taken note of the feedback from ‘Love & Thunder.

There are over 30 projects rumored to be in development and scheduled to be released sometime in the next two years, and ‘Thor 5’ is one of them, at least according to the rumors that are getting louder and louder. Recently, Taika Waititi commented on the possibility of him helming the fifth God of Thunder movie in the MCU, and he shrugged it off, saying that it’s really not on his schedule at the moment.
With this statement, fans collectively sighed in relief. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is according to many fans considered to be the best installment in the franchise, Taika perfectly juggled the humor and somber tones of the movie, and then something happened during the development of ‘Love & Thunder.’ The movie went overboard with pretty much everything except for the good story, some jokes landed in bad taste with the movie more considered to be a parody take on the...

From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Whether or not we finally do get some new Star Wars on the big screen in the years to come, the future of the franchise is still very bright, thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, which has already expanded across multiple spinoffs full of Original Trilogy nostalgia and exciting new characters. Chris Hemsworth Once Thought Marvel Would Fire Him From The Role Of Thor ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Chris Hemsworth might return for a fifth installment in his Thor franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there was a time when he was apprehensive of himself in the character. He thought he might lose his job and get kicked out by Marvel. At that time, Natalie Portman was already an accomplished star in Hollywood, while this 2011 movie was one of Chris’ first big jobs.
Hemsworth is a tall and handsome man who fits the bill perfectly to portray a demigod on screen. After watching him as the God of Thunder in the MCU, his fans are convinced it was one of the best decisions Marvel ever made. I had no interest in doing one of those films. It wasn't on my plan for my career as an auteur."But I was poor and I'd just had a second child, and I thought, 'You know what, this would be a great opportunity to feed these children.'"The 'Next Goal Wins' director added: "And 'Thor', let's face it – it was probably the least popular franchise. Taika Waititi is looking back at working with former President Donald Trump.
Back in 2012, Taika, 48, directed NBC’s “Brotherhood of Man” commercial that aired during the Super Bowl.
The commercial featured the casts of shows including 30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Rec, Community, and Saturday Night Live singing “Brotherhood of Man” from the 1961 musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Trump, who at the time was host of The Apprentice, also made a brief cameo in the commercial.

‘Thor: Love & Thunder,’ released in 2022, received criticism for being cringy, particularly in contrast to Taika Waititi’s well-received first Thor film, ‘Ragnarok.’ The movie faced backlash for its excessive and out-of-place humor, especially given the serious themes of Foster’s cancer and the powerful villain Gorr the God Butcher from Marvel Comics.
Considered a failure on many fronts, ‘Love & Thunder’ lacked redeeming qualities. Post-release, Chris Hemsworth took a break from acting due to concerning test results suggesting a higher risk of Alzheimer’s, though he clarified later that the hiatus was to spend more time with his children.
Now, it appears Hemsworth is ready to return for ‘Thor 5,’ engaging in talks with Marvel Studios. However, Taika Waititi won’t be directing the film, citing a busy schedule in a Variety interview. Currently focused on adapting ‘Klara and the Sun,’ Waititi expresses a strong interest in the dystopian sci-fi novel,...

‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ was released in 2022, and the movie was described as cringy at best. And while everyone praised Taika’s first Thor, ‘Ragnarok’ ‘Love & Thunder’ was heavily criticized for excessive out-of-place humor, especially when you take into account that one of the prominent themes in the movie was Foster’s cancer and one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Comics Universe, Gorr the God Butcher.
The movie was a failure in every imaginable and conveyable way, having little redeeming qualities. Following the release, Chris Hemsworth also took a break from acting due to troubling test results that showed him having more chances to develop Alzeheimer than the average person, although he later cleared up that his break from acting was due to his desire to spend more time with his children and not the result of his genetic results.

Taika Waititi has become a divisive director after many felt his follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder indulged too much in his quirky humor and featured half-baked dramatic beats. However, prior to that misfire, the New Zealander had only dabbled in big-budget blockbusters with Thor: Ragnarok and his small appearances as Korg in subsequent Marvel Universe films. He had previously received consistent accolades for his other movies, which are smaller comedy productions that include What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and JoJo Rabbit. And he continues to receive praise for the upcoming soccer comedy, Next Goal Wins.
Waititi’s success with the Thor movies and his relationship with Disney would give him the chance to helm a standalone Star Wars film. Even with his work in the MCU, it remains to be seen how his style can mesh with a Star Wars movie, and...

Michael Fassbender is a two-time Academy Award nominee who trained at the Drama Centre London before touring with the Oxford Stage Company; he’s performed Chekov and Shakespeare and worked a veritable who’s who of greatest living directors. Rookie actor Kaimana had never even considered trying to be an actor, noting she avoided school plays “like the plague.” Yet the two form a winning pair in “Next Goal Wins,” the funny, touching, uplifting new film from “Jojo Rabbit” filmmaker Taika Waititi, hitting theaters Nov. 17.
Based on the 2014 documentary of the same name, “Next Goal Wins” finds Fassbender playing Thomas Rongen, a coach whose anger management and alcohol issues finds him shipped off to American Samoa to lead the national football team to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. One can’t say that writer-director Taika Waititi doesn’t do an efficient job at telling us just what kind of experience Next Goal Wins is going to be right from the outset. After all the studio logos, the very first image we see is of Taika himself, playing an American Samoan priest, explains to the audience the tale of the most embarrassing defeat ever to occur on a soccer pitch: a match from April 11, 2001 when Australia beat American Samoa 31-0.
The footage of that match starts both Waititi’s film and the 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison that it’s based on. And it’s a perfect way to kick-start a movie about a bunch of loveable losers struggling for the meager goal of scoring a single point in literally any game. The cherry on top of it all is the darkly hilarious...

Taika Waititi can’t say much about his forthcoming “Star Wars” film, but he does have a joke that might pique his fans’ sense of humor.
When asked if his addition to the popular franchise would still show fans the same “Star Wars” they know and love, the “Thor: love and thunder” director animatedly told Variety on the red carpet of his “Next Goal Wins” premiere, “It will be … dramatic pause… a Taika Waititi film.”
“It’s gonna piss people off,” he added with a laugh.
In the meantime, the Hollywood multihyphenate is celebrating the release of his latest film, a soccer flick focused on the true story of an American Samoa team that infamously lost a FIFA match 31-0. Waititi came to the movie after wrapping up his work on the 2022 “Thor” film and “JoJo Rabbit,” and said he wanted to do something that focused on his heritage and culture.

This post contains spoilers for the first three episodes of "Our Flag Means Death" season 2.
The second season of "Our Flag Means Death" has premiered on Max, and if you've watched, you know that one of the newcomers to the cast, Ruibo Qian, is playing someone who has a few run-ins with our beloved, Muppet-like pirates.
Qian also has something in common with the show's two leads — Rhys Darby, who plays Stede Bonnet, and Taika Waititi, who plays Blackbeard — in that her character, Zheng Yi Sao, is based on a real-life pirate who once sailed the seas.
Like the show's Blackbeard and Stede, however, Qian's Zheng Yi Sao differs from her real-life counterpart. "There's about a 100-years' time difference between Zheng Yi Sao and Blackbeard and Stede, so we're already inventing that they're all together in the same world," series creator David Jenkins told me an interview. Hamill really gets to sink his teeth into the part (see what I did?), using a goofy accent and leaning into the silliness of it all. And that's fine — he's a character named Jim the Vampire, that's pretty damn silly.
And how did Hamill end up on the show? Fandom is the answer! Sometimes, being a fan of something can land you a job.

Los Angeles, July 15 (Ians) Singer Rita Ora has admitted it was difficult to watch her friends get married and have babies while she was still single, and she has poured out her feelings in her new album.
The 32-year-old singer and actress tied the knot with Hollywood director Taika Waititi, 47, last year.
Rita, who counts Scots DJ Calvin Harris, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and American rapper Asap Rocky as former flames, told The Sun newspaper how she was “lonely and had given up on love” before falling for New Zealand-born Taika.
She revealed waiting to find true love was difficult as her friends moved on without her.
On her new track ‘Waiting For You’, Rita sings: “I’d had enough, given up, watched all my friends get married — lonely under the chandelier.
“Always kept up my guard, wasn’t ready for love. . . just a beat in my heart with no use.

The Rez Dogs are heading back home for their final hurrah. FX has released the official trailer for the third and final season of “Reservation Dogs,” the acclaimed FX on Hulu dramedy series.
Created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, with Harjo serving as the series showrunner, “Reservation Dogs” focuses on four teenagers — Elora (Devery Jacobs), Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai), Cheese (Lane Factor), and Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) — who were born and raised in a small Indigenous reservation in Oklahoma. The first two seasons of the show focused on the group’s quest to raise money to travel to California, a long-time dream of their dead friend, Daniel (Dalton Cramer). The Season 2 finale saw the crew finally succeed in their goal, making it to the beaches of Los Angeles and saying an emotional goodbye to Daniel.
Their move proves to be temporary, however, as the trailer for Season 3 opens with the foursome traveling back home.

The Toronto Film Festival is beginning to reveal the feature slate for its 48th edition, starting off with Searchlight’s Taika Waititi soccer comedy Next Goal Wins.
The pic, directed and co-written by the Oscar winner, is inspired by the true story of the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for its brutal 31-0 loss to Australia in a 2001 World Cup qualifying match. With more qualifiers approaching, the ragtag squad hires down-on-his-luck, maverick Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) in the hope he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around. Director Taika Waititi has been on the scene for over 20 years, making a splash with an Academy Award-nominated short film before heading off to Sundance with 2007’s quirky indie Eagle vs Shark. From there, he helmed one of the funniest mockumentaries ever in What We Do in the Shadows before landing one of the most prestigious jobs in Hollywood, directing for Marvel. Oh, and there’s an Oscar in there somewhere, too…But what will it all amount to? In a new profile, that’s just what he’s worried about.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, director Taika Waititi said, “I’m 47. My God, take the pressure off. People are so obsessed with likes or leaving behind a legacy, being remembered. Here’s the thing: No one’s going to remember us. What’s the name of the director of Casablanca? Arguably one of the greatest films of all time.
