Steven Phil is a creator, screenwriter and director. His first feature film was road movie The Tree Kings (2018). He created, scripted and directed the Money ID (2021), a TV series which includes The story of Money, a documentary with an anthropological point of view, told by personalities such as Yurval Harari and Nobel Prize winner Muhamed Yunus. His second documentary is Open Revolution (2022), a film about open banking as the tip of the iceberg of the digital revolution. The third installment will be released this year. NFT (2022) is a documentary about the financial's "tokenization" processes. Steven also is currently working on the production of his fourth and most controversial film to date, Almost Family (2023), a documentary about the history of domestic workers rights in third world.
He started his career in 2015, after a long journey through Social Sciences. Also in 2015, he won Brazilian government financing for four fictional series and three of his feature films. He is committed to creating films and documentary series that entertain but that also carry a sensitive look at social issues, such as the effects of the internet, digital revolution and economy. His fictional projects aim to raise awareness about domestic violence survivors, the intersection of politics and sports, as well as social-political inequalities.
