David A. Sarich received a dual degree in Film Theory and Philosophy of
Art from Georgia State University, and went on to attend the graduate
film program at New York University and the School of Visual Arts.
While attending S.V.A., David made his first film, The Finger, a 16mm
short experimental film paralleling the Van Gogh ear legend. After
moving back to Atlanta, he founded Mad Dash Films to produce short and
documentary work while also writing narrative feature length film
scripts. He has been developing the feature length film "... to the
stars" and filmed a 15 minute, 35mm work-in-progress of the piece.
Presently, Feel Neil (2003) is his first feature length film for David and Mad
Dash Films. David spent 1 ½ years traveling the U.S. chronicling the
lives of Neil Diamond Impersonators and Tribute Bands, and the fans who
follow them. The film, shot on mini-DV, follows 4 Impersonators and 3
Tribute Bands and their devotion to the Jewish Elvis: Neil Diamond.
David has also created and produced two short documentary videos:
Reflection of the Heart, a photographic montage of cardiac patients at
Atlanta's Grady Hospital, and Winder, Georgia: 5 Kinds of Meat, a
whimsical collection of interviews with the citizens of Winder,
Georgia.
