The Writer's Guild of America will not honor video game writing this year due to a supposed lack of qualified candidates.
The Writers Guild of America has decided to drop their award for video game writing due to a supposed lack of viable candidates.
“There won’t be a Videogame Writing Award in 2020.” says a WGA spokesperson in a statement to IGN. The same representative noted that the award may return when "there is a critical mass of video games covered by the WGA in order to provide a meaningful award selection process.”
The WGA is almost certainly in the wrong here, but let's take a minute to breakdown just why this is ridiculous. First off, there are a series of requirements a game must meet before it can even be considered for a WGA award. The big one is that one of the credited writers to...

One of the most surprising games of E3 2016, Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, will not be on stage this year when Sony presents their wares. Read Kojima's tweet below and see if you can decipher it. Plus, find out when you can see the man, himself, live and in person at E3!
When we began on the long, winding road to E3 2017, one of the games we were most excited to get an update on was Hideo Kojima's first game since Konami, Death Stranding. Alas, we aren't so lucky this year as Kojima has tweeted out that his team has decided to forego E3 2017 in favor of spending that time developing. That didn't mean Kojima, himself, wouldn't still be in attendance, though.
Apologies to our fans, Death Stranding will not be @ E3 as we are fully focused on development. Pls see me with @geoffkeighley on 6/14! pic.twitter.com/w...

A sweeping adventure, a long-lost artifact, two mismatched treasure hunters – sound familiar? For fans of Naughty Dog’s flagship Uncharted series, it should, though the developer is ready to tinker with its winning formula with the release of standalone expansion, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Welcoming Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross into the spotlight, the Dlc is pitched as a spinoff from Uncharted 4 that takes place some six months after Nathan Drake’s final adventure (more on that later) and following Game Informer’s grand reveal late last week, PlayStation Blog has now unearthed a series of character images for the forthcoming expansion. Embedded above, there’s also confirmation that Usman Ally, the Obie award-winning actor who recently appeared in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, is attached to the part of Asav, the malevolent villain set to put Nadine and Chloe through their paces.

During a recent livestream demonstration for soon-to-be-released compilation Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Naughty Dog seemingly let slip confirmation of The Last of Us 2.
News of a sequel to 2013’s post-apocalyptic masterclass is nothing new, with voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker hinting at various stages over the past year or so that a follow-up was indeed in the works. How and ever, Gamepur has spotted what is perhaps the biggest indication that the studio is planning to continue the story of Joel and Ellie – or shift the focus to new characters entirely.
More News From The Web
Upon hosting the aforementioned video event, Nd strategist Eric Monacelli, writer Josh Scherr and lead animator Eric Baldwin all delved into the minutia of The Nathan Drake Collection, though it was Scherr that allegedly outed the existence of The Last of Us 2.

The acclaimed survival horror game The Last Of Us appears to be getting a sequel, if a Naughty Dog video's anything to go by...
If we're interpreting this correctly, Naughty Dog may have announced The Last Of Us 2 in one of the most awkward ways imaginable. The studio recently presented a livestream, designed to advertise its forthcoming Nathan Drake Collection - a compilation of the three last-gen Uncharted games, re-released in remastered form.
During that stream, Eric Monacelli, Naughty Dog's community strategist, spoke to two key staff from Uncharted - Eric Baldwin, lead animator, and Josh Scherr, the series' writer. At one point, Scherr appears to stumble over his words when talking about Uncharted's facial animation.
"By the way, all the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led by Eric here," Scherr says, motioning to Eric Baldwin, "and the first The Last Of Us."
Apparently panicking slightly, Scherr quickly adds,...

Those of us still mired in nostalgia for the PlayStation days of old have been secretly holding out hope that juggernaut studio Naughty Dog would revisit the Crash Bandicoot franchise sometime soon. Unfortunately, in a recent interview with Game Informer, Naughty Dog’s Josh Scherr revealed that they have no interest in bringing back everyone’s favorite marsupial and his band of foes.
Referring to recent titles like The Last of Us and the Uncharted series, Scherr was asked if he missed working on older titles, and responded by saying:
No, I don’t, because we’ve got an amazing team of people making some really expressive performances with our current stable of realistic characters. I mean, animating the stylised stuff is a lot of fun, but the stories that we’re trying to tell right now are a little bit more grounded and a little bit more grown up...
