John Cena is one of the most respected and adored figures in Hollywood. He has made a name for himself through various pursuits, being successful as both an actor and a wrestler. He has become iconic in many ways and entered the fabric of popular culture. His acting roles have gained him a completely different type of audience, playing the role of The Peacemaker in the DC Universe, acting in Barbie, being a part of Argylle, and even adorning the skin of Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious series.
John Cena in The Peacemaker
Despite all these roles, he gets to star in an adaptation of a game. A recent update may change this as the actor might be getting a role in a highly anticipated adaptation of an iconic video game.

Gone are the days of seeing Liam Cunningham as the trusted deputy of Stannis Baratheon! The knight has now embraced modernity, as he’s playing the suit-booted Thomas Wade, leader of the Planetary Defense Committee, in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem. The show is rightfully touted as the next big thing, considering it’s coming from Benioff and Weiss, the same duo who once created a little something called Game of Thrones. And like the HBO show, this one is also based on a series of super popular books—only the genre is science fiction this time.
Cunningham’s character, Thomas Wade, is the face of an organization fighting an alien race, San-Ti-Ti, whose primary agenda is taking over the world and ending humankind. Inarguably the sassiest character in the show, Wade is dynamic, very pragmatic, and also very courageous. He wouldn’t hesitate to murder a lot of innocent...

"One Piece" needs no introduction. This is one of the biggest anime of all time, and a franchise that helped change the anime medium and manga forever. As a long-running story, "One Piece" features one of the biggest and most fleshed-out worlds in all of fiction, up there with J.R.R. Tolkien's Legendarium. Granted, the number of episodes is daunting, but the longevity and reputation of "One Piece" work to its advantage, as you see the world slowly change throughout the story, and the characters grow and develop over the years.
Like most big anime franchises, "One Piece" is more than just an anime or a manga, but a big franchise with almost as many movies as "Pokémon." With 17 movies to date, some movies are better than others at capturing what makes "One Piece" so special and endearing. If you care only about the best of the best, here are...

Hand over your crowns, Batman and Iron Man, it's Mario and Freddy Fazbear's time to reign dominant over the box office. Yes, it seems video game adaptations might be the next big thing in Hollywood, now that the generation of kids who were raised on gaming consoles and point-and-click titles are old enough to purchase movie tickets for themselves. And with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" allowing Nintendo to successfully expand into the film business, what better time for the paterfamilias of high-fantasy video game series, "The Legend of Zelda," to finally make its way to the big screen in live-action?
This isn't the first time Nintendo has adapted the adventures of Link, Zelda, and the other citizens of Hyrule for a different medium. 1989's "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" featured animated segments centered on the characters and their eternal battles with the power-hungry Ganon, while Netflix nearly...

Watch out, Mario, because Link's right behind you! "The Legend of Zelda," arguably Nintendo's second most-famous franchise, is getting its own movie adaptation -- but this time, it'll be in live-action. According to Nintendo, director Wes Ball is set to direct the film, which will be produced by video game creator Shigeru Miyamoto ("The Super Mario Bros. Movie") and Avi Arad ("Spider-Man"). Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment will co-produce the film, with Nintendo providing more than half of the financing, and Sony will handle theatrical distribution around the globe. This isn't the first time someone's tried to make a live-action version of the world of Hyrule, but hopefully Sony Pictures has better luck than Netflix did with their ill-fated attempt at an adaptation a few years back.
Plans for a "Legend of Zelda" movie are still in the nascent stages, of course, but it's also pretty exciting, because...

Even the most casual gamers have at least some familiarity with The Legend of Zelda games. The series was an instant hit from the moment it launched on the Famicom Disk System in 1986, and since then it’s only become more popular thanks to new entries that consistently reinvent the franchise (and even video games as a whole).
With such a lengthy history and more than a dozen mainline entries, there’s no shortage of obscure Zelda trivia out there. But while you might know about the complicated timeline or the terrible CD-i games, these are 15 facts that even the most diehard fans probably never knew about The Legend of Zelda as we look forward to the upcoming release of Tears of the Kingdom.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht gives an inside look at the running of the luxurious Parsifal III sailboat stationed on the Mediterranean. Throughout the course of the show, viewers get to see how the captain, chef, and crew work together to provide the best experience possible for their guests. If you want to get the Below Deck experience, you can — but you have to be willing to fork over a pretty penny for it.

Parsifal III is a lavish 177-foot sailing yacht made in 2005 by world-renowed Italian shipyard Perini Navi. Fresh designer Remi Tessier designed the interior of the boat.
Chef Adam Glick, who has appeared on Below Deck in past seasons, told E! News in 2020 that a large ship like Parsifal III can cost prospective owners “30, 40, 50 million” to buy. The sails alone can cost up to $300,000 to replace.

Hot on the heels of "Avatar: The Way of Water," Empire Magazine already has a scoop about a key piece of casting news for the franchise's next sequel. "Game of Thrones" star Oona Chaplin was announced as a castmate for the sequels a full five years ago now, but details about her character are finally being made public. According to the March 2023 issue of Empire, the actress best known for playing Rob Stark's doomed wife Talisa will here play Varang, the leader of the Ash people.
If the Ash people don't sound particularly familiar, it's because they haven't been introduced yet. In December, director James Cameron did reveal to the French outlet 20 Minutes that the Ash people will be a fire tribe that isn't exactly as honorable and heroic as the Na'vi tribes we've seen so far. This post contains spoilers for "Avatar: The Way of Water."
In James Cameron's 2009 film "Avatar," an evil corporate wonk appropriately named Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi) explains to Grace (Sigourney Weaver) that the distant planet of Pandora is a rich source of a rare mineral called unobtanium. The silly name was immediately tittered at by audiences, doubly so for people who had seen Jon Amiel's 2003 disaster film "The Core," which also featured a rare substance called unobtanium. Frustratingly, the actual makeup and function of this rare fictional ore was never explained. Selfridge definitely wanted it in great quantities, and was willing to commit genocide on the Pandora locals in order to get it, but audiences were never made privy as to why it was so coveted beyond its high monetary value.
Even more frustratingly, Selfridge has a line of dialogue later in the film explaining that the nearby deposit...

Avatar: The Way Of Water is set 14 years after the tumultuous events of the first film. If, in the real world, the gap is to accommodate the 13 years between the two movies, in the fictional world it alludes to the seven years it takes the defeated Resources Development Administration (Boooo!) to retreat to Earth, and a further seven years to regroup and come back, armed and even more dangerous. The return of the Rda also means the return of Colonel Miles Quaritch, even though he was killed by the arrows of Zoe Saldaña's Neytiri.
Empire: I guess when you were making the first film, you thought there was no chance you will be back for a sequel?
Stephen Lang: I didn't really think about it to be honest. When we were months and months into the first shoot, it was one of those days in Wellington when we actually had a party.

James Cameron first presented the beautiful world of Pandora to audiences with Avatar over a decade ago. Populated by various unique creatures, Pandora was home to the Na’vi, a race of ten-foot-tall aliens who just so happen to be blue.
James Cameron recently spoke with Empire for their January 2023 issue and was asked why he decided to make the Na’vi blue in Avatar. It turns out that there’s not any grand reasoning behind the choice, it was simply the only colour he felt wasn’t taken by other cinematic characters. “As for the colour: green was taken. There was a long history of green aliens. Plus, the Hulk. And the human colours, pinks and browns, weren’t alien. SpongeBob was yellow,” Cameron explained. “That pretty much left blue and purple. Purple is my favorite colour, but I figured we’d use that for one of our main bioluminescence colours,...

Read what any filmmaker has to say about how specific choices made in certain films came to be, and there's a high likelihood that it simply came together as a matter of logistics. It's not quite as glamorous or sexy as fans may want, but hey -- that's just how the moviemaking business goes, sometimes.
When it comes to the unquestioned visionaries and cinematic giants living and breathing among us, however, it can become even more tempting to chalk up every little detail we see on screen to an obsessive thought process that broke down each and every possible angle into a fine powder. But as much as those who subscribe to auteur theory would like to believe otherwise, reality can be quite different ... and a lot more mundane.
Take it from James Cameron, whose "Avatar: The Way of Water" is finally set to release after years of serving as a punchline.

A couple months ago, James Cameron mentioned that one of the reason why so many years passed between the release of the first Avatar movie and its upcoming sequel Avatar: The Way of Water is that he lost a year working on a sequel script that didn’t completely work. As Cameron explained, “All films work on different levels. The first is surface, which is character, problem and resolution. The second is thematic. What is the movie trying to say? But Avatar also works on a third level, the subconscious. I wrote an entire script for the sequel, read it and realized that it did not get to level three. Boom. Start over.” Now he has revealed that the scrapped screenplay was called Avatar: The Higher Ground – and it has been reworked into a three issue Dark Horse comic book series called Avatar: The High Ground! With under just about six weeks to go until its premiere, 20th Century Studios and James Cameron have finally revealed the full Avatar: The Way of Water trailer. While we got a teaser trailer a few months ago, this full-length trailer gives us a better idea of what to expect for our return trip to Pandora. For the first time, we get to see some of Sigourney Weaver’s performance as Jake Scully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldaña) daughter, Kiri. We also get a foreboding glance at Stephen Lang’s Quaritch in full Navi form, seemingly crushing a Navi skull in his bare hands. While the first teaser concentrated on the much-hyped underwater kingdom on Pandora, the full trailer gives us more of an idea of what the movie’s scope is going to be.
