Christopher Wong, working from his studio in Los Angeles, has established himself as one of the top composers in Vietnam's film industry, having twice won Vietnam's Oscar-equivalent Golden Lotus for Best Original Score, and is a frequent collaborator of the rising generation of Asian American film directors.
While attending UCLA, Christopher's interest in film music began when he was selected by the music department to study privately under Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith. Influential to his early career was his score for Ham Tran's debut feature film, "Journey from the Fall." The film received standing ovations at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, while the score earned a nomination from the International Film Music Critics Association for Best New Composer of 2007. His first collaboration with director Charlie Nguyen on "The Rebel" earned Vietnam's Oscar-equivalent Golden Lotus award for Best Original Score in 2007, while his collaboration with Victor Vu on "Dreamy Eyes" earned his second Golden Lotus in 2021. Further collaborations with Charlie Nguyen and director Victor Vu led to a steady stream of scoring assignments coming from the Vietnam film industry, including Vu's Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass, Vietnam's submission to the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2016 Academy Awards. As of 2022, Christopher has scored 48 feature films for Vietnam, working from his studio in Los Angeles.
