- Gareth began the harp in 2007 under the tutorage of Charlotte Swayne, after seeing a harp performance on 'Blue Peter'. In 2016, Gareth joined the Telynor Cymru project, learning the Welsh Romany Gypsy music of the Roberts and Woods families under world-renown Triple Harpist Robin Huw Bowen. Discovering a passion for the Welsh Triple Harp, he took up the instrument under the mentorship of Robin and has become a passionate ambassador for the Welsh and Welsh-Romany music traditions.
In recent years, has won the 'John W Thomas Memorial Prize for Solo Folk Instrument' at the 2018 National Eisteddfod in Cardiff and was 'Young Musician of the Year 2019' at Cwlwm Celtaidd Interceltic Festival. He has also made appearances on TV including BBC's 'Bargain Hunt'.
Today, Gareth continues to perform on the Welsh Triple Harp across the UK, championing the Welsh Triple Harp and the Welsh music. He continues to work closely with Robin Huw Bowen, continuing the centuries-old legacy of the unbroken aural tradition.
