Helped found Rio's Museum of Modern Art, organizing its Cinematheque, which he directed from 1957 to 1965.
Envisaged and directed the first two International Film Festivals in Rio de Janeiro, in 1965 and 1969.
Founded the "Círculo de Estudos Cinematográficos" (Circle of Cinematographic Studies), an important cine club in Brazil, with discussions opened to the general public.
