Overview
Dawn Hoskins-Rivers grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada. After moving to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 2010 she was discovered by a local talent agency for her unique look at the time of purple hair and heavy tattoos. Her film debut in K.D. Lang's musical documentary Balleltlujah, rekindled her love of acting (something she had put on the back-burner while raising her seven children). After Balleltlujah, Dawn kept busy with film, television, and voice acting in a variety of productions including Burn Your Maps, Heartland, Young Drunk, Somewhen, and A Teacher. Dawn devotes much of her time assisting indie filmmakers and film students with their projects both in front of the camera and behind the scenes in production (writing, directing, casting, set design, wardrobe, and more). As of 2023 Dawn has embarked on production of her own creative film series (in production), and will also star in a documentary (in production).
