As a student at Chatfield Sr. High School, he was the president and founder of the "Movie Making Club". This club was one of the first high schools in the state of Colorado to have such a program. His brother, actor Seven BryJoseph, took over the club for a short period when Robert graduated to attended the University of Northern Colorado and then later the Colorado Film School. While at the University of Northern Colorado, Robert funded and made a thirty-minute short film titled "Rebecca". This was the first time a movie had been independently made by students without the help of the university or a film program at the time. He currently resides in Littleton, Colorado, and is the Co-Manager of Group101 Films Colorado, the largest provider of short films in Colorado. Robert is currently in prep for his debut feature film that he will helm as producer, writer, and director in the year 2005. In 2007, Cabrera dropped his feature film to pursue other short films that interested him in a true and personal nature.
