- Marshall Grant was the last surviving member of the original trio.
- Johnny Cash's backing band. Members have included Marshall Grant, Luther Perkins and W.S. Holland. After his death, Perkins was replaced by Bob Wootton.
- Perkins and Grant were car mechanics in Memphis, Tennessee who practiced music together in their spare time. In 1954, their co-worker Roy Cash introduced them to his brother Johnny. They began recording with Sun Records the following year.
- Back on tour much to the pleasure of their fans of many decades, and new ones as well. The band has been performing around the US, Canada and Europe and will continue to do so for at least 2006/07. They also released a new album in 2006 titled, "The Sound Must Go On" as a tribute to their dear friend and former employer, Johnny Cash. (March 2006)
