When you think of Spider-Man‘s love interests, the first name to pop into your head is either going to be Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, and so far, the creative team behind every single live-action movie to feature the web-slinging superhero would agree. When the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise arrives next December, it’ll be the eighth consecutive Spidey outing to include one of the two as Peter Parker’s main squeeze, and if recent reports are to be believed, it’ll be the second Spider-Man 3 to feature both of them in some capacity.
Admittedly, Zendaya’s spin on Mj is an entirely different approach to the standard comic book redhead that audiences have been used to seeing over the last two decades, but no self-respecting franchise ever tells a straightforward love story without throwing plenty of obstacles in the way. To that end,...

Fans were rightfully excited when Disney finalized their takeover of Fox, putting the rights to the X-Men in the hands of Marvel Studios, but there are still a huge number of questions surrounding how exactly Kevin Feige and his team plan on introducing the concept of mutants into their delicately balanced cinematic ecosystem that’s existed for well over a decade.
Everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is meticulously laid out years in advance, and suddenly having to explain what mutants are and why they’ve remained unheard of and unseen for so long will need to be handled incredibly carefully instead of simply deciding to throw the X-Men at the big screen as soon as possible solely in the name of fan service.
There’s already been almost constant speculation about how, when, where and why Marvel’s newest acquisitions will eventually make their long-awaited debut, although the general...

Marvel continues to put their best heroes forward and now 90’s team the New Warriors could be coming to TV with, Squirrel Girl.
Okay I honestly don’t know where to start here. These are two properties from Marvel that I thoroughly enjoy. You’ve got the New Warriors created in 1989 by one of my favorite writers Tom DeFalco. Consisting first of Night Thrasher/Dwayne Taylor the peak human armored suit wearing leader. Namorita the cousin of Sub-Mariner and a human Atlantean hybrid. Nova/Richard Ryder, member of the galaxy police force known as the Nova Corp. Speedball/Bobby Baldwin kinetic field wielding human pinball. Firestar/Angelica Jones mutant who can store and convert energy into heat, light, and radiation. And lastly Marvel Boy/Vance Astrovick mutant telekinetic. Now this team may not see the screen and I’m pretty sure ol’ Dick Ryder died a horrible death in the...

A ton of awesome comic book characters have been introduced to us over the years, but not all of these characters were created for the comics. There are a handful of them that were created for other media before they found their way into the comic universes of Marvel and DC. Here is a list of ten comic characters that you may or may not know originated outside of the comics.
Harley Quinn[Television] Batman: The Animated Series
That's right folks, everyone's favorite sadistic Joker sidekick wasn't introduced into Batman's Rogues Gallery until Batman: The Animated Series. She was an instant classic! The first comic she appeared in was The Batman Adventures #12 in September of 1993. Over the years she has had her own series and also teamed up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman several times to beat down on Batman. She is my favorite female villain of all time.

Fans have been waiting for something like the Battle for Quicksilver to happen, ever since it was made clear that the film rights for the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man would not be returning to Marvel Studios anytime soon. Now it seems likely that two versions of the same superhero will be appearing in different franchises, with one or both films not able to fully depict the character as he is in the comics.
At this point it'd help to have a checklist of exactly which studios own what characters, because it's pretty confusing the way it stands right now. Fox owns the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but mutants can apparently appear in Marvel Studios films as long as they're not called mutants (and possibly not called by their code names). Sony owns Spider-Man, and he's not moving studios, not ever. That means we'll never see Norman...

The wall-crawler can do no wrong at Shadowlocked this month...
It’s all back to the 80s this month as Marvel release yet another retro classic from their back-catalogue. Coinciding with the release of Spider-Man 5000 – volume three, fans of the wall-crawler can treat themselves to a second helping of the web-head with this early eighties slice of Spidey-vision.
First airing in 1981 as a companion piece to his solo show, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends sees the web-slinger team up with college roommates Bobby Drake and Angelica Jones – Iceman and Firestar respectively – to fight crime and villainy wherever they find it.
Calling themselves the Spider Friends, the trio share a room at May Parker’s (Peter Parker’s aunt) boarding house. Their room doubles up as a base of operations, from which they can fight crime in and around New York City, while also attending classes at Empire State University. And...

Four of Marvel's most fabulous single girls are thrown together in a new superhero soap opera.
Marvel Divas starts this month and features Patsy Walker aka Hellcat, Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat, Angelica Jones aka Firestar and Monica Rambeau aka Photon.
In what sounds like Sex and the City with a superhero twist, the new comic book combines romance, action, ex-boyfriends and liberal amounts of suds and drama.
Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: "The idea behind the series was to have some sudsy fun and lift the curtain a bit and take a peep at some of our most fabulous superheroines.
"In the series, they're an unlikely foursome of friends with Two things in common: They're all leading double-lives and they're all having romantic trouble.
"The pitch started as Sex and the City in the Marvel Universe, and there's definitely that 'naughty' element to it, but I also think the series...
