Director, producer, screenwriter and visual effects supervisor Shahriar "Shah" Rahman knows artistry has no bounds. He has immersed himself in the entertainment industry for over twenty years and has cultivated his talents to not only conceive visionary pieces but also detail their implementation with an in-depth understanding of all stages of production.
His prowess as a visual effects and motion graphic artist can be seen on Sundance-awarded films, Emmy-winning TV shows, and Hollywood blockbusters. As a VFX Supervisor, he helped achieve the visions of shows such as Shonda Rhimes' Scandal, Graham Yost's Justified, and Marta Kauffman's Grace and Frankie, among others. His artistry is displayed as a colorist, designer, and editor in commercials for such high-profile brands as Pepsi, Samsung, BMW, Saban, and Nike, and in music videos for A-list talent, including Britney Spears, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Avicii, Carrie Underwood, and The Weeknd.
Shah's first feature was selected and premiered at the South Asian International Film Festival in 2008. The film was purchased by Channel I and was viewed by millions around the world during prime holiday broadcast slots. The following year Shah directed and edited a music video, He is Not a Kid, or "Pola to Noi" in Bangla, which was banned from broadcast in Bangladesh for years. In 2012, a 4-minute spot that he directed won the short film category at the Discover LA filmmaking contest. Shah also directed the first spec commercial that featured the Tesla Model 3 car and, in 2023, the Cybertruck. His most recent project, a short film about a woman and an imaginary octopus, took almost five years to complete because of its cutting-edge visual effects.
With a deep grasp of production, post-production, and the limits of visual effects, Shah will continue to create films, commercials, and music videos that shatter creative boundaries.
