Clay Taylor is a documentary filmmaker based in College Station, TX. A graduate of Texas A&M University (2008), he has directed and produced multiple award winning short films, feature length films, and television shows. He grew up in Lockhart, TX, which was a filming location for dozens of movies including Bernie (2011), What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), and Clay's personal favorite, Waiting for Guffman (1996). He got his start in the industry at 12th Man Productions, where he would go on to receive producer and cinematographer credits on the sports documentary film The Burning Desire (2009). He was also the show creator and director for The Pulse: Texas A&M Football (2014-2016) which was also produced by 12th Man Productions. In his time working with Texas FilmWorks, Clay directed multiple short films including Lost Lettermen (2017) and Gilly (2019). He co-directed the feature length film Breaking Tradition: The Hugh McElroy Story (2023) with close friend and colleague Donny Hall. The film chronicles the Texas A&M Football team's integration efforts in the late 1960's, and celebrates one unlikely star player who will be widely remembered as a pioneer at the university.
