Holly Willoughby scolded Lembit Opik on This Morning for “having a go” at Angela Rayner live on-air.
The former politician was invited on the sdaytime show to discuss Matt Hancock’s appearance on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, which has prompted conntroversy.
He was joined by deputy Labour leader Rayner, who called former health secretary Hancock’s decision to join the series “offensive” due to the struggles he put people through during the pandemic.
“If you want to be a Member of Parliament, which our job is to represent our constituents and vote... we had two very important votes yesterday, he wasn’t there for them. This is issues around pensioners, this is issues around the Home Office, and he’s not there,” Rayner said.

Former UK health secretary Matt Hancock will reportedly take part in the new series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, following the likes of Boy George, Seann Walsh and Mike Tindall into the jungle
“Matt is a sensational signing for the show as producers love a star with a story to tell – and they always hope they’ll spill the beans round the campfire,” an insider told The Sun.
“He’s the latest in a long line of figures from the political sphere, including MP Nadine Dorries, Stanley Johnson and MP Lembit Opik.”
The Conservative MP for West Suffolk was first elected in 2010 and served as head of the department of health under Theresa May and then Boris Johnson, finding himself at the centre of the storm when the Covid-19 pandemic first arrived on these shores in early 2020.

Matt Hancock is not the first politician to enter the Australian jungle for I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
The new series, which begins on Sunday (6 November), will see the former health secretary, who resigned in 2021 after violating his own Covid regulations, join the new batch of contestants a few days in.
His participation in the series has been condemned not only by fans, but by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who said on Tuesday (1 November) that, rather than competing in a reality series, MPs “should be working hard for their constituents in the House or in their constituencies”.
But Hancock is not the first politician to have entered the jungle.
Metropolitan Police deputy assistant commissioner Brian Paddick kicked off the wave of MPs being asked to take part, signing up in 2008. He finished in seventh place. Former Labour MP and Mep Robert Kilroy-Silk also participated in that year’s series,...

Matt Hancock has joined the cast of the 2022 series of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The MP, who resigned as health secretary last year after violating his own Covid regulations by having an affair with aide Gina Coladangelo, is said to be entering the jungle as a bombshell contestant on the ITV show alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
The will be joining the cast of 10 contestants already confirmed by ITV, including Boy George and Mike Tindall.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s official spokesperson said: “The Pm believes that at a challenging time for the country, MPs should be working hard for their constituents in the House or in their constituencies.
“The public when they elect their MPs, expect them to work hard for their constituency.”
They said it was “unlikely” that Sunak would be watching I’m a Celebrity to see how Hancock gets on.

Labour MP Jamie Reed has revealed he turned down an offer to appear on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, and suggested that producers are desperate to get anti-Jeremy Corbyn politicians on the series.
Reed - MP for Copeland in Cumbria and former Shadow Health Minister - made headlines and briefly trended on Twitter earlier this year when he resigned from the Shadow Cabinet within minutes of Corbyn's victory as Labour leader.
Writing for The Guardian, the 42-year-old politician explained that he was approached shortly after handing in his resignation, but would not be following in the footsteps of Tory MP Nadine Dorries and entering the ITV jungle next month.
On why he turned it down, he wrote: "Filled with white terror, my mind drifted to thoughts of the furious far-left organising to torture me night after night on national TV.
"As they organised phone banks to keep me in the show,...

It feels like only yesterday that Gemma Collins was crying mascara stained tears while complaining of contracting malaria - but this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here is now just a mere month away.
Last year's series saw Carl Fogarty crowned King of the Jungle. But which stars will be enduring the Australian kangaroo anus-eating adventures on the ITV show this year? Here's the rumoured line-up so far:
Stephanie Davis
Who? Former Hollyoaks actress who was recently axed due to being "unfit to work because of alcohol consumption".
The rumour: The 22-year-old is reportedly "hot property" as a number of reality shows try to sign her up, according to The Mirror's unnamed insider. The star - who played Sinead O'Conner for five years in the Channel 4 soap - is no stranger to TV competitions, previously taking part in Over the Rainbow - a BBC One talent...

"There are two types of politicians," says Nigel Farage, deep in discussion with 'the drunk ones' from Gogglebox. "Those who want to be something and those who want to do something. I want to do something."
Nigel Farage definitely wants to "do something". Judging by his latest venture into TV, courtesy of a very generous Channel 4, that "something" is be on TV. Here is a man who wants to be famous and he's just about willing to do anything to get there. Even it means having beer splashed on you and flirting with D-listers.
Steph and Dom Meet Nigel Farage was yet another 30 minutes of handy free publicity for Farage in a pre-election year that will make or break his party. It revealed very little about the man we didn't otherwise know, other than the fact he fits in very well with a pair of posh bumbling booze hounds.

Sinitta with a live lobster in her mouth is never not funny, Lembit Opik sobbing behind bars never fails to raise a smile, and Paul Burrell's eyes bulging with sheer, unadulterated terror... well, we'll let you take another look for yourself.

The former Liberal Democrat MP had to be taken away by St John's Ambulance paramedics on Saturday (June 2) after his bout against another wrestler, reports The Telegraph. Shaggy dog tales, Ann Widdecombe at the opera – and black toilet paper
Intriguing tail
HarperCollins has acquired the memoirs of Uggie, the dog in The Artist. Uggie: My Story will be published in October. It is unclear whether this is ghosted or whether the pooch will pen his own version at a later date.

Not to be outdone by Lembit Opik's wrestling antics, Ann Widdecombe makes her (non-singing) operatic debut at the Royal Opera House tonight. Would like to see them duet. Or bout.
New black
More Simon Cowell revelations. To avoid a minimalist cliche, his preferred toilet roll is black. Ha! Not so fancy. You too can get the loo/k: six rolls for £7 from Amazon.
Scarf crazy
Spotted: scarf-shoes and scarf-bags, while the scarf-scarf goes from strength to strength. Finding this all a bit fussy.
Quiffs
Same one spotted on Joey Barton and Alex Turner.

Celebrity Big brother will be back in just a few weeks and news is starting to leak about which famous faces we may see in the house.
Today, Daily Star journalist (and Big brother fanatic) Peter Dyke has dropped a little hint on Twitter, teasing that one of the 2011 housemates will be a British politician.
He tweeted his followers this message just a few minutes ago:
Celeb Big Bro tease. Which celeb will def get more votes from the public to be evicted than they did to become an MP in 2010?
Our first thought was, please God, don’t let it be Lembit Öpik!
The 46 year old Liberal Democrat member was MP for mid Wales constituency Montgomeryshire from 1 May 1997 – 6 May 2010. But lost his seat to the Conservatives in the general election last year.
We know that he has a love of reality TV shows, having previously appeared on Come Dine With Me,...

Speaking after her win was announced a visibly shocked Stacey, 21, said: “What the hell just happened? Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I don’t know what to say.”
All of this year’s contestants returned to see Stacey crowned queen of the jungle including Britt Ekland, Alison Hammond, Dom Joly, Lembit Opik, Gillian McKeith, Aggro Santos, Kayla Collins, Linford Christie, Sheryl Gascoigne and Jenny Eclair who finished in third place on Friday’s show (03.12.10).

I'm A Celebrity... finalists Shaun Ryder and Stacey Solomon have undertaken a live Bush Tucker trial minutes before the crowning of this year's winner. On their penultimate day in camp, the popular stars were offered the opportunity to win a celebratory feast and a movie screening in return for attending the 'Bush Spa', a jungle retreat containing gruesome alternatives to well-known beauty treatments. "Yes, let’s do it please," Solomon exclaimed. "Today will be the best day in the jungle ever but tomorrow will be horrendous but who cares!" The former Liberal Democrat MP said that he thinks the ‘You Are What You Eat’ star was incorrectly accused of pretending to have phobias and revealed that he chatted about the issue with Gillian after she was eliminated from the ITV show yesterday.
Speaking on Daybreak, Opik said: “I actually cross questioned her this afternoon as I have been quite a defender of hers and I’ll tell you now live on British television that I think Gillian McKeith is innocent and she wasn’t faking it.”

Lembit Opik became the second person to be voted out of the 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' camp last night (26.11.10). The former MP had failed to entertain viewers or campmates with his attempts at humour and found himself one of the two least popular in the public phone vote, alongside Olympic runner Linford Christie. After waving goodbye to his campmates after 14 days in the jungle, he crossed the rope bridge between camp and the normal world and joined show hosts Ant and Dec to discuss his experience. He told them: ''It feels really strange to be ..

Lembit Opik has admitted that he doesn’t think Gillian McKeith faked her fainting fits on I’m A Celebrity…….Get Me Out Of Here.
The former Lib Dem MP was evicted from the show tonight and during his exit interview Ant and Dec asked what he thought of Mc Keith’s frequent hysterics.
Opik replied:
Gillian has had an incredible journey. She basically was phobic about insects and confined spaces and creepy crawlies and fish and in other words everything this show is about. I kept telling her “insects are your friends” and eventually she tried to conquer her and in my view she has been an absolute star. She shows that if you do focus on your fears, you can overcome them…..respect to her.
The former Cheeky Boy also confessed that he is gutted to be leaving the ITV show, saying that he didn’t want the experience to end.

Lembit Opik has become the second star to be evicted from the I’m A Celebrity jungle camp.

On how it felt to be eliminated from the popular ITV show, Lembit told presenters Ant & Dec:
It feels strange, because I haven’t actual;luy collected the firewood this morning and I haven’t boiled the water properly.
It’s quite odd really, we were a very close team and there was a real sense of team spirit there. So I’ll miss them but I’ll see them in a week.

Christopher Biggins has branded annoying Gillian McKeith the “worst contestant ever”.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner – who was crowned king of the jungle in 2007 – thinks the ‘You Are What You Eat’ star is ruining the show with her repeated refusal to take part in Bushtucker Trials, and should quit the ITV1 show altogether.
He told The Sun newspaper: “She must be the most obnoxious, selfish, vindictive woman I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch on TV. She’s ruining the programme.
“She refuses to do anything, and if she cannot do it she should get out. She has a huge ego and probably thinks she’s being picked for the tasks because she’s so popular, the poor, deluded woman. My advice to her would be to try harder and be kinder. But there is no way back for her now.”

‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses are to offer a lifeline to one of the six contestants facing the public vote tonight.
With Gillian McKeith, Lembit Opik, Shuan Ryder, Stacey Solomon, Sheryl Gascoigne and Dom Joly all up for elimination from the ITV1 show in tonight’s public vote, one star will be saved from potentially being the first to leave the Australian jungle.
Each contestant will be put into solitary confinement and then be forced to plunge their hand into two “hell holes” filled with gruesome jungle critters, with each hole containing five keys on various puzzles.
The following morning, a further 20 keys will be hidden in the star’s porridge, giving them the chance to escape from solitary confinement and be granted immunity from the first eviction.
Elsewhere in the camp, former ‘X Factor’ finalist Stacey and rapper Aggro Santos prepared to face the Bush Tucker Trial.

Gillian McKeith claimed to be pregnant on I’m A Celebrity this week, in a bid to escape from jungle jail.
The ‘You Are What You Eat’ star was incarcerated with Shaun Ryder and Sheryl Gascoigne after cheating on a Kangaroo Court challenge.

Fellow contestant Lembit Opik said everyone was worried about her, adding:
“Gillian’s level of ailments have increased and she has been hearing voices. She is very weak and frail at the moment.”
An insider told The Sun:
“When Gillian went back to the jungle jail she went nuts. It was quite scary.”
An ITV source said Gillian had been “clearly joking” and made up the story.

Nigel Havers has sensationally quit ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor walked out of the camp just hours after nutritionist Gillian McKeith’s dramatic collapse on live television as he had grown tired of life in the jungle and some of his fellow contestants.
An insider said: “Nigel just said he’d had enough and it wasn’t what he thought it would be like.
“He said he was fed up with the inane chatter from some of the others and just wanted to go home.”
Although Nigel had grown close to Shaun Ryder, he found it hard to bond with his other campmates, especially politician Lembit Opik.
While he has now officially quit, he had previously threatened to walk out during a kangaroo court task when he found out he would be given electric shocks.
He told producers: “I don’t do electric shocks.

The I’m A Celebrity males have been quick to criticise each other this year and the man everyone seems to be picking on is former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik.
Last night Nigel Havers was seen turning on the wittering Cheeky Girls lover and earlier Linford Christie told him that he should have been jailed for his abuse of the expenses system.
Lembit, 45, claimed that he had tried to be honest and only had to pay back “£90 out of seven years’ worth of expenses”.
But Christie wasn’t convinced and he insisted that anyone who had to pay back cash should be locked up, along with Prime Minister David Cameron.
He added: “If you’re with people and they do something wrong you’re an accomplice. You go to jail for what they do.”
We’re starting to feel sorry for poor old Lemmy!
