On-the-rise Spanish boutique sales company Feel Content has acquired a pair of features ahead of this month’s European Film Market: Finnish-Danish drama “Yellow Sulphur” – recently premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival – and French-Colombian co-production “The Rust,” a competition player at last year’s San Sebastian.
From Finnish director-writer-producer Claes Olsson, “Yellow Sulphur Sky” is adapted from Kjell Westö’s eponymous novel and produced by Solar Films, Nordic Film Pool and Smile Entertainment. The book and now film tell the story of Frej, a writer who revisits his own youth as a source of inspiration, forcing the author to face long-forgotten memories. Nordisk Film distributed the film across Scandinavia.
“I wanted to create a film with a sophisticated structure and full of emotions,” said Olsson. “In the end, love is the one thing that makes you remember your life.”

Raven Banner Entertainment has today announced that the horror thriller titled the Incident will be distributed shortly. This is a found footage style of film, shot much like a documentary. A journalist and a cameraman investigate the disappearance of several factory works only to go missing themselves. Then their digital journal is disseminated and the result is truly horrifying!
Raven Banner Entertainment has not announced a specific release date for this title, but expect a showing in 2011 (prediction). More release details for this title are below.

Last month we brought you the first word on the upcoming Argentinian cinéma-vérité zombie flick Incidente. And though we had stills, a trailer, and many bits of artwork, details were still very much on the scant side of the fence. Until now.
According to director Mariano Cattaneo Incidente was inspired by the likes of [Rec], Lamberto Bava's Demons, The Blair Witch Project, and even Stephen King’s novel Desperation.
"Incidente does not have infected people, nor zombies. It's home to demons who use the humans like clothes," says Catteneo in an interview on his blog.
Undead Backbrain scored the plot crunch, which you can dig on below.

The only thing remotely positive about suffering from insomnia is staying up into the wee hours of the night watching trailers for independent horror flicks. In your underwear. Writer/director Mariano Cattaneo’s upcoming zombie opus “Incidente” combines too of my favorite things — namely, satanic cults and the living dead — and gives them the ol’ “[Rec]” treatment. The embedded trailer doesn’t give us too much of the good stuff, though it dishes out just enough horror to whet my cinematic appetite. Well played, Cattaneo. Well played. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. Argentinian writer/director Mariano Cattaneo lists Demons by Lamberto Bava, and Stephen King’s "Desperation" as primary influences for Incidente, a zombie horror film that looks to be in the vein of Spain's [Rec] and its Hollywood counter part, Quarantine.
Doesn't look quite as well done or intense as [Rec], but hey it's demon zombies running around a old building that's the scene of a crime.
Official trailer (via: Undead Backbrain) after the break.
Embedded video stripped, see full HTML version.

Argentina’s Nicanor Loreti has been a long time friend of this site - and involved in a solid fistful of quality films in his homeland - and so we’ve been tracking the progress of his animated adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven - a film he is co-directing with Mariano Cattaneo - for a good long time now and our patience has just been rewarded with an exclusive clip from the nearly-complete short, the first glimpse so far to include the any narration from Billy Drago. You know ,,, nevermore and all that ...

Fango scribe Nicanor Loreti sent along the poster (which you can see below the cut) for the animated adaptation of The Raven that he’s been working on with Mariano Cattaneo. He also gave us an update on the short, which is narrated by genre veteran Billy Drago.
“Mariano, who’s co-directing and co-producing, is close to getting the animation finished,” Loreti says of the black-and-white project, which takes influences from German expressionism as well as more recent fright filmmakers. “Then we have to work on the sound and ship it to Claudio Simonetti, who’s in charge of the music. We’re thrilled he’s involved,” the filmmaker says of Simonetti, who has scored numerous Italian horror classics both solo and as part of Goblin.
Loreti is also excited about having Drago involved. “The first big pleasant surprise was when we got his narration,” the filmmaker says. “We’re both longtime fans of his,...

Okay fans of Edgar Allen Poe, here’s a little something to look out for: a new animated version of The Raven, directed by Nicanor Loreti and Mariano Cattaneo with narration by Billy Drago. According to co-director Loreti, the film will hold to Poe’s original text while the visuals amp things up a little more than what you may be used to. How much more? Loreti refers to their version as an Evil Dead version, so I’d say expect a fair bit more.
