Basima Takrouri

Basma Takrouri, a Palestinian actress, writer and poet, residing in Canada, gained recognition through her novel "Absent Seat" published by the Palestinian Writers Union in 2001. She holds degrees in English literature and sociology from Bethlehem University and a master's in communications and PR from Lesell University, Massachusetts (2016). Basma has also authored three children's books in collaboration with the Tamer Institute for Community Education. Her work "Diaries Under Occupation" was translated into French and published by La Courte Échelle in Marseille in 2006. Known for her unique sarcastic literary style, she won the Next Page Foundation publishing award for her novel "A Tricky Passage" (2009) published by Al-Bayraq Al-Arabi, Ramallah. Basma's poems and stories have been featured in various collections, translated into multiple languages, and she's actively participated in global poetry and writer's festivals and international conferences.
