- Additional Crew
John Mulkey was a Gasser racer. He was the National Hot Rod Association's (NHRS) third two-time national champion. In 1956, Mulkey won the NHRA "B Street" championship at Kansas City, driving his 1932 Ford with a souped up Ford engine. Clocked at 14.43 seconds at 99.22 mph. In 1958, Mulkey repeated his class win in Oklahoma City. Clocked at13.36 seconds at 104.65 mph. This win was with a small-block Chevy engine in his Ford. His winning 1932 Ford was used in the science fiction movie "The Giant Gila Monster" by the lead character throughout the movie. In the finale of the movie, the hero loads the car with nitro and drives the car into the monster, destroying it and the car. In reality, a model of the car is used, not the actual car. Mulkey had a long career as a race car driver and has since passed on.
