The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the U.S. version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.
Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for an act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists were allowed to push the button as well for their favorites. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be an audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd. In Season 19, a new twist allowed the judges to each press their buttons twice during the auditions.

On June 11, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the third installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 3,” Sofia Vergara differed from the other judges because the Malambo dance of Legion was not new to her as a South American, but still they were “spectacular” enough to earn her top prize. Watch the full performance in the video above.
The men of Legion explained to the judges that they are an Argentinian Malambo company that rehearses their dance routines extracurricularly to their “real jobs.” With the money should they win, they told Simon Cowell they want their own studio because they’ve been preparing in the backyard of a members’ parents backyard. Malambo is a traditional folk dance where the boots of the dancers are lit on fire,...

“America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued Tuesday, June 11 with another two-hour episode of first-round auditions. Once again, this season’s hopefuls are judged by executive producer Simon Cowell on one end of the dais and Howie Mandel on the other. Seated in the middle are Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, with Terry Crews on stage as the lively host.
In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. For the first time ever, each judge has not one, but two chances to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances. Terry had one chance of his own, totaling nine acts overall that will earn the special path to the final phase of the competition.

Following the two-hour “Auditions 2” episode of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 on June 4, we asked You, “Who was your favorite act?” Among the contestants that performed for the judges were five-year-old drummer Chrisyius Whitehead, band Ashes & Arrows, balancing act Hakuna Matata Acrobatic, dancer Alex Zinger, classically trained musicians The Otama Collective, Chinese instrument player NiNi, acrobatics Cata & Jay, Japanese dance group Sabrina, baton twirler Phillip Lewis, and danger trick act Bao Cuong.
Based on your votes in our Auditions 2 poll, danger act and illusionist Bao Cuong was your favorite with over 48% popularity. In his performance, Bao was able to show Simon Cowell something he’s never sen before: giant scissors put into a human body. For that reason, Simon thought Bao delivered something “incredible,” and even if Sofia Vergara was hesitant to setting herself up to see such a hard-to-watch act again, she joined the other judges in a unanimous vote...

In a moment that seemed scripted for the big screen, Terry Crews, the *America’s Got Talent* host, hit the coveted Golden Buzzer for Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi. This act propelled Jonasi directly to the live shows. Jonasi, known as Long John, captivated the AGT audience with his unique blend of stand-up and physical comedy. Drawing humor from his upbringing in a small village in Zimbabwe, he tackled diverse topics ranging from traffic lights to cell phone reception. Learnmore Jonasi‘s inspirations come from everyday life. He shared: You see I come from a small village in Zimbabwe, far away from everything.

On June 4, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the second installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 2,” it was revealed that the decision to give each judge two hits of the buzzer came when Simon Cowell just couldn’t help breaking the rules by hitting it a second time in one episode for the drone artist group Sky Elements. Watch the full performance in the video above.
In order to display the artistry of Sky Elements, production was moved outside the theater during the night as the group prepared 1,000 drones to light up the sky with their storytelling. The members of the group began their career by setting up intricate Christmas light displays at home and then advanced with their love of...

In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. He told Liv Warfield that listening to her song “was like being, in a good way, punched in the face” before awarding her his first golden buzzer. Watch the full performance in the video above.
Prior to Liv’s performance, Simon asked her about her career and what it’s been like working in the music industry. America’s Got Talent returned last week, and one big change took place immediately. That first episode saw one contestant who really freaked out Simon Cowell in a good way. However, there were two other contestants that really blew the judges away.
Here is a look at how one new America’s Got Talent rule change helped push two people into the live rounds.
America’s Got Talent Returns With Big Rule Change
The first night of AGT Season 19 returned with a significant rule change. What was really impressive was that it immediately took effect at the premiere. The new season gives each judge not one but two Golden Buzzers to use. This made two contestants very happy on the first night.
A standing ovation for Ashlee – America’s Got Talent
The first one was someone who was highlighted in the Season 19 promo trailers. The man was Richard Goodall, who was the final audition of the evening.

Following the two-hour premiere of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 on May 28, we asked You, “Who was your favorite act?” Among the acts that performed for the judges in Auditions 1 were dance group Los Osos High School, two-year-old mathematician Baby Dev, magician Sam Huang, dog act Daisy May & Clifford, ballet dancer Ashlee Montague, country singer Reyna Roberts, contortionist Arshiya, world record holder Chris Ivan, and body performer Tonikaku.
Based on your votes in our Auditions 1 poll, the dancers of Los Osos High School were your resounding favorite with over 67% popularity. The group was the very first act to take the stage for the new season and wowed the judges with what Heidi Klum called a “kaleidoscope” of a routine, even though she was ultimately on the fence. She thought that while it was good, they could “up the choreography a little bit.” Howie Mandel agreed with Heidi and voted “no” in...

Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent (NBC, 8/7c) marks the second week of Season 19 auditions, and TVLine has an exclusive first look at one of the most jaw-dropping moments of the night, courtesy of an act known as Hakuna Matata.
In the video above, the acrobatic quartet attempts a balancing feat that leaves all four judges visibly unnerved. A beside-himself Howie Mandel looks away from the stage entirely, while Heidi Klum struggles to watch with her jaw on the table, Sofia Vergara waves her arms so hard that she nearly takes flight, and Simon Cowell remains simply frozen in disbelief.
