Petra Serafina Tóth
- Actress
Petra Serafina Tóth is an aspiring actress who has started to pave her way in the Hungarian and international film and theatre industry after finishing her acting schools.
Regarding movies and on-screen presence, Petra gained training in acting for film at a prestigious Hungarian acting school specialized in movies. She had the privilege to study from some of the most prominent actors and directors of Hungary, Vica Kerekes and Zsolt Anger to name a few. She has experienced playing roles in different short films, of which one, Zone 234 was shortlisted at several international film festivals last year: it got the laurel of the 10th GOA Short Film Festival, India, and it won the People's Choice Award at the Brooklyn Sci-fi Film Festival. In Zone 234, she plays the female lead, Zsófi: a shy, introverted but smart young lady who desperately tries to find true love in a dreary, unhappy, yet futuristic world where she meets the inventor and scientist Dr. Gideon. He is said to make the world happy again by finding everyone their true love match. The complications start here... One exam movie of hers, I think I'm not quite over my ex was selected among the finalist short movies at the 10th Malter Film Festival, Debrecen, Hungary, and it was screened on the opening day of the festival. In this one, she plays a pretty but very naive young woman, Luca, who finds herself together with an emotionally broken man. In the drama called 'Afghan Dreamers' (2023), which was directed by the two-times award winning director, Bill Guttentag, Petra played the main Danish team player at a robotics competition. She also had one-on-one training for acting for film in English with actor-writer-producer Scott Alexander Young from New Zealand. As for commercials, two of them were directed by Dávid Spáh, whose work is outstanding in this field in Hungary.
Classically trained, she has played roles from Shakespeare to Molière to Patrick Hamilton both at acting school and in the Baroque Theatre of the Royal Palace of Godollo (which is a very beautiful historic town near Budapest). Currently, they have five plays on repertoire. Petra plays Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet which is very close to her heart not only because it is a dream role for every young actress, but also because they get to play it within the dorms and chambers of the royal palace that lifts the play to a next level of wondrous and immersive. Other current roles formed by her include Desdemona in Shakespeare's Othello, Mariane in Molière's Tartuffe, Nancy in Patrick Hamilton's Gaslight, and Aromo, a very witty rabbit in a Hungarian writer's, Ervin Lázár's play for kids: A Negyszogletu Kerek Erdo (The Square Around Forest). Her favorite previous role was playing a revolutionary girl in a Hungarian rock opera about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, namely Orizd a lángot! (Save the fire!).
Petra sees herself rather Scandinavian-looking given her blonde hair and blue eyes. She describes herself quite emotional and passionate who loves a good dinner with family or friends while chatting the night out. She likes traveling because she believes the more she experiences, the greater acting toolkit she will have. She does sports frequently, she is an expert in alpine skiing and air yoga, she holds an instructor certificate in both. She also windsurfs, plays tennis, and just started to take stunt training. She takes singing and voice lessons, and dubs at different Hungarian dubbing studios from time to time. One of her most noticeable singing performances was staging Verdi Requiem with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as member of the Nottingham Trent University choir in the Theatre Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham. Petra also plays the piano, and she is fluent in Hungarian and English, and speaks Spanish at an intermediate level. She once had the opportunity to give a speech in Spanish in the Hungarian Parliament. She presented the main features of Costa Rica for ambassadors from Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Petra considers herself committed who does her best to improve professionally. She is available and ready to step higher on the international field by working on big screen or for streaming platforms, among others.
