Joey Schmit

Joey Schmit is an independent film producer and marketing coordinator
in New York City. A hands-on producer, Schmit is involved in all
aspects of the filmmaking process, including development, financing,
production, and marketing. He has produced two independent feature
films, including "Unreal," which was picked up for distribution in 2005
by Lifesize Entertainment and won top awards on the film festival
circuit. Most recently, he produced Self Conscious Entertainment's
upcoming psychological thriller, "Synapse," and a documentary short
titled "States of Freedom." Prior to producing, he worked in the
promotions department at Buena Vista Pictures Marketing in Manhattan.
Among the films he developed promotional strategies for are "The Lion
King IMAX," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and Spike Lee's "The 25th
Hour." While earning a B.A. in Communications from Arizona State
University, Schmit worked with New Line Cinema as a College
Representative for their Southwest Territory (New Mexico, Arizona, and
Las Vegas). In this role, he was responsible for devising and
implementing various on-campus promotions for blockbuster films such as
"Lord of the Rings" and "Austin Powers 3." In 1999, Schmit established
Joey J Entertainment, a D-Jay service in the Phoenix area. Throughout
college, he played all varieties of music at clubs and bars, and for
several ASU Campus organizations. Schmit grew up in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
