In a move that practically no one in the sports or broadcasting worlds saw coming, it was on Tuesday that the PGA Tour and Liv Golf will merge in an effort to promote golf around the world. The two rival tours will also unite with Dp World Tour — the PGA’s European Tour — to form a new commercial entity to promote all of the brands in order to deliver “maximum excitement and competition among the game’s best players,” according to a press release issued by the PGA Tour.
While the three tours will continue to exist and operate independently, Liv’s parent company Public Investment Fund (Pif) will make a capital investment into the new commercial enterprise, whose name will be announced at a later date. Pif is run and funded by Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been accused of crimes against humanity and the brutal murder of Suadi-American journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The creators of the Netflix series Full Swing, a compelling look inside the lives of professional golfers, benefitted from a stroke of luck. As they were working on Season 1, the rival Saudi-backed Liv Tour sprang up, posing an existential threat to the venerable PGA Tour.
“It’s certainly, I would argue, probably the [most] unprecedented, controversial year in maybe any sport,” said executive producer Chad Mumm during an appearance at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted virtual event. “There’s certainly been other attempts and breakaway leagues in the history of sport, but never in the middle of a season, never when you’re sharing a locker room with guys that are leaving or rumored to be leaving and playing in pairings with them.”
Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Ian Poulter are among the golfers featured in Full Swing who bolted for Liv, but fellow competitor Rickie Fowler, past winner of the prestigious Players Championship,...

Enjoy golf? You will simply love this. And if you aren´t a fan, this can be appreciated because Full Swing puts us in the skin and lives of these pros beyond the apparent tranquility of a world that is anything but… peaceful.
Eight really entertaining chapters full of luxury, interviews, oddities and anecdotes about golfing that present this sport as a little more than mere sport and bring us close to a world that few of us were aware of, and which from now on, will be much more interesting.
In the same vein as Break Point (this one was about tennis), in this series we are taken on the great tournaments and players, also new players in another generation that leaves Tiger Woods behind, who seek to carve a space for themselves in the history of the sport.
This series is very entertaining and, above all, is not focused exclusively for golfers.

Dubai, Jan 28 (Ians) It was not the kind of a start Shubhankar Sharma was looking for as he began his first round of the weather-disrupted 2023 Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Due to start on Thursday afternoon, he finally got to tee off on Friday but after a promising start of 2-under through the first three holes, he finished 2-over 74 and was in danger of missing the cut.
He did get some respite with a birdie in the three holes of the second round he got to play before play was suspended due to fading light on Friday. Sharma is now 1-over through 21 holes at the Emirates Golf Club.
Richard Bland and Ian Poulter were tied at the top of the leader board reaching eight under par before the daylight ran out.
Angel Hidalgo was their nearest challenger on seven under, with Louis de Jager another shot further back alongside Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed,...
