You couldn't get much more '90s than Tfi Friday. Even if you watched an episode of Friends while wearing a fisherman's hat with Shed Seven playing 'Chasing Rainbows' at the same time in your living room, it still wouldn't be as '90s as Chris Evans stood at a bar, shouting "Wiiiiiilll" in between bursts of 'The Riverboat Song'.
So when Chris Evans revealed over the Bank Holiday that Channel 4 had approached him to revive the show to mark its 20th anniversary next year (it isn't actually 20 until 2016, but let's not quibble over small details), there were understandably a few groans from people who thought the rowdy entertainment show should be left in the decade of Cool Britannia, Hooch and Kula Shaker.
But we disagree, for the five following reasons:
1. Tfi was live. Tfi was unpredictable.
Well, it was normally live. It was until Shaun Ryder...

Sunderland have named Gus Poyet as their new manager, according to the BBC.
The Uruguayan replaces the sacked Paolo Di Canio and becomes the Black Cat’s sixth boss in just five years.
The North East club are bottom of the Premier League without a win this season and fired Di Canio last month, with Poyet one of the bookmaker’s early favourites for the position at the Stadium of Light.
Poyet, 45, was himself sacked by former club Brighton back in June, and will bring his former Seagulls backroom staff Mauricio Taricco and Charlie Oatway with him.
Prior to Poyet’s appointment, Sunderland’s senior professional development coach Kevin Ball has been overseeing affairs as interim manager, and had also asked to be considered for the position.
However, chairman Ellis Short said:
“We analysed a wide range of candidates and believe that Gus’s track record, experience, commitment and passion...

Arsenal, the club who arguably need to do the most business today have kicked off their dealings with the acquisition of Fenerbahce’s 28 year old Brazilian left-back Andre Santos. He signs on a long-term deal with a fee thought to be about £6m, and will plug the gap left by Gael Clichy’s jump to Man City earlier in the window, which was so poorly filled by Armand Traore against Man Utd at the weekend.
How this will go down with Arsenal fans is unclear right now, with a majority quite vocal on the club’s need to invest in tried and tested players with experience of the Premiership or at least good experience of major European competitions, after the perceived failure of Arsene Wenger’s long-term transfer policy of blooding young potential stars.
Wenger spoke to the official Arsenal website to announce the signing:
