In April 2022, James Corden announced that he would be stepping down from his duties at "The Late Late Show" after hosting the late-night staple since 2015. Many speculated about who would take his spot as the successor to Tom Snyder, Craig Kilborn, and Craig Ferguson in the 12:35 a.m. time slot on CBS' schedule. But as we move closer to Corden's final days on the show, which are scheduled to air in spring 2023, no one has officially emerged as the next host. And it appears that the reason for this is that the network is doing away with the series entirely in favor of a fan-favorite format that debuted a decade ago that was canceled after 600 episodes.

It’s summertime, which means San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter will heat up for the annual Comic-Con celebration of all things geek. The event has grown from its humbler roots of comic books and collectibles to be a full-fledged media extravaganza, where TV production companies and movie studios descend upon the welcoming, cosplaying masses to display their wares. It’s become a can’t-miss opportunity to debut new series, announce important casting, or unveil the next big blockbuster.
What does Comic-Con 2019 have in store now that two of the biggest franchises – “Game of Thrones” and “Avengers” – have wrapped up? And how will troubled productions or celebrities recoup their reputations? IndieWire’s TV team will be on the ground in San Diego to pose (and hopefully answer) these questions and more:

When Chloe Dykstra accused an unnamed ex of abuse in her essay, she never believed she would receive such internet backlash. "I opened trending [on Twitter] and saw my face," she told Time in an interview published Thursday. "It was the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced. I was just like, 'No, no, no.'" Medium published the piece in June. In the article, Dykstra accused the alleged perpetrator of "long-term" abuse, sexual assault and career blacklisting. While she never named the former boyfriend, many assumed she was referring to Chris Hardwick, whom she dated for three years before splitting up in 2014. At first, Dykstra received several encouraging...

Chris Hardwick’s ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra — whose essay in June about a former boyfriend with “controlling behavior” was quickly followed by investigations into the “Talking Dead” host — took to Twitter to say that she stands by “every single word of my essay” on Friday.
Dykstra’s message, posted to her Twitter account, came on the same day news broke that Nerdist — which Hardwick co-founded — had restored Hardwick’s name to its website.
“Hey dudes. Just a reminder: I 100 percent stand by every single word of my essay,” Dykstra wrote.
She added, “I made sure it was unembellished, factual, and that I had evidence to back it up in order to protect myself in case of Actual litigation. That is all.”
Hardwick — who had previously been reinstated at AMC, which airs “Talking Dead” — returns to the show on Sunday. NBC has confirmed that it had also restored Hardwick on its programs, including “The Wall.”
Hardwick was apparently accused of misconduct by Dykstra in a June Medium essay. Though Dykstra did not name the former boyfriend, whom she said pressured her into sex and ultimately derailed her career, it was pretty easy to connect the dots to the Nerdist co-founder.
In her essay, titled “Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession,” the 29-year-old said that when she was in her early twenties she dated a man “almost 20 years my senior” who displayed what she called “controlling behavior.”
She also accused the man of pressuring her into sex against her will, though she wrote, “To be fair, I did go along with it out of fear of losing him.” She added that “after three years of being snapped/yelled at constantly, very rarely being shown any affection- I finally left him.”
Following the essay’s publication, Hardwick was temporarily removed from “Talking Dead,” but was reinstated in July.
“We take these matters very seriously and given the information available to us after a very careful review, including interviews with numerous individuals, we believe returning Chris to work is the appropriate step,” AMC said in a statement last month announcing that Hardwick had been reinstated.

Chris Hardwick is returning to “Talking Dead” this weekend, but one executive producer and several staffers won’t be. TheWrap reports that a female Ep has chosen to depart the “Walking Dead” after-show along with a “handful” of its 25 or so staffers now that Hardwick has been reinstated following AMC’s investigation into claims of abuse made by his ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra.
Dykstra, who wasn’t involved in that investigation, wrote an essay in June in which she detailed an abusive, years-long relationship with a man whom readers quickly deduced was Hardwick. “I was expected to be [sexually] ready for him when he came home from work” whether she wanted to or not, she claimed. “Every night, I laid there for him, occasionally in tears.”

Less than a week after AMC revealed it was reinstating Chris Hardwick as host of Talking Dead, the comedian and television personality is set to return as a host for NBC's The Wall and will also appear as a guest judge on America's Got Talent, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

A week after AMC announced that Chris Hardwick would return to the network and “Talking Dead,” NBC is confirming that the host will also be back on the Peacock’s airwaves.
NBC didn’t take any initial action on Hardwick, since he wasn’t on the network’s air when allegations were first leveled against the host, accusing him of sexual assault. But now, Hardwick will indeed appear on the August 7 episode of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” as a guest judge. He is also confirmed to continue as host of “The Wall” when it returns to the network for Season 3. (Production resumes this fall on “The Wall.”)
NBC declined comment on whether it conducted its own investigation or took its cue from AMC’s recent decision to bring Hardwick back on screen.
Hardwick was accused of sexual abuse by ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra in a Medium essay written last month.

Chris Hardwick will return to work at NBC, the network announced on Tuesday.
The host will appear on next week’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” as scheduled, and will return to host the third season of “The Wall” when the game show resumes production in the fall.
The decision came more than a month after the network said it would “assess” Hardwick’s role at NBC following accusations of emotional abuse and controlling behavior by one of his ex-girlfriends.
“These allegations about Chris Hardwick took us by surprise as we have had a positive working relationship with him,” the network said in a statement at that time. “However, we take allegations of misconduct very seriously.”

Chris Hardwick’s ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra has spoken out after AMC reinstated Hardwick as the host of “Talking Dead” following a review of a misconduct accusation against him.
In a lengthy Twitter statement, Dykstra said that she intends to “move on with my life.”

Hardwick was apparently accused of misconduct by Dykstra in a June Medium essay. Though Dykstra did not name the former boyfriend, whom she said pressured her into sex and ultimately derailed her career, it was pretty easy to connect the dots to the Nerdist founder.

Chloe Dykstra has issued a statement following the news AMC is officially bringing Chris Hardwick back to the network. The actress said she wishes to move on and focus on helping organizations for sexual abuse survivors.
Dykstra published an essay on June 15 detailing an emotionally and sexually abusive relationship with a former boyfriend. The television personality did not name Hardwick, but the details of her story led many to believe Hardwick was the abuser mentioned. Hardwick verified the belief further when he came out with his own statement denying the claims made in the essay.
With the July 26 announcement Hardwick is returning to AMC as host of “Talking Dead” on August 12, Dykstra posted a note on social media saying she was taking the news fine since her essay never intended to “ruin the career” of the person she spoke about.

In a new statement, Chloe Dykstra says that she "chose not to participate" in the investigation of an ex-boyfriend she alleged had emotionally abused and sexually assaulted her in a June essay. The boyfriend is widely believed to be Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick.

On Wednesday The Hollywood Reporter reported that Hardwick would return to Talking Dead after an investigation by AMC had concluded.

Just days after the conclusion of San Diego Comic-Con, where Yvette Nicole Brown moderated panels in Chris Hardwick's absence, AMC has announced they've cleared him to return to work.
On June 14, Hardwick's ex-girlfriend, Chloe Dykstra, posted an online essay alleging sexual assault and emotional abuse by Hardwick during their time together.
As a result, Hardwick immediately lost his position and affiliations at AMC and elsewhere while AMC began a comprehensive investigation into the allegations although he was not named in Dykstra's post.
Hardwick has adamantly denied all allegations, although he agreed that his relationship with Dykstra "was not perfect."
He also released some intimate text messages and emails he had exchanged with Dykstra in an attempt to give some perspective from his side of the relationship.

Lydia Hearst defended her husband, “Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick, at Variety’s Comic-Con Studio on Thursday morning amidst allegations from his ex-girlfriend, actress Chloe Dykstra, that he sexually and emotionally abused her during their relationship, which ended in 2014.
“I’ve known him to be nothing less than absolutely loving, compassionate, supportive, not just to myself, but to everyone he knows and works with,” Hearst told Variety. “He’s a genuinely good man with a good heart.”
Hardwick’s shows are only on hiatus and AMC is conducting an investigation into the matter and she and Hardwick are both “extremely optimistic about” the result, she said.
“I think fans can expect to see him back on the air soon and maybe hopefully back at Comic-Con next year,” Hearst said.

TV is still king at San Diego Comic-Con International, even though several high-profile titles, including HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Starz’s “Outlander,” are sitting this one out. Nonetheless, plenty of networks and studios are stepping up to the plate to pick up the slack, and there’s plenty of intrigue to be had — including the introduction of Jodie Whittaker as the latest Doctor on “Doctor Who,” a new direction (time jump!) and new moderator (Yvette Nicole Brown!) for “The Walking Dead,” the return of Kurt Sutter via “Mayans M.C.,” and a “Breaking Bad” reunion. Check back all weekend as IndieWire’s West Coast team covers Sdcc 2018 on the ground in San Diego; below, here are some of the biggest questions we’ll be tackling.
