M. Night Shyamalan is doing something completely unexpected and is developing an animated TV comedy series for Fox called Eleven Little Indians. He's developing the project with Family Guy writer/producer Alex Carter.
According to Variety, “Eleven Little Indians examines three branches of a large Indian family — one has achieved the American dream; another has just arrived in the U.S. wide-eyed; and the third has gone off the rails."
Shyamalan is mostly known for his dark horror thrillers with twists, but seeing him break out of that and do something completely different like this is cool. I've done my fair share of bashing Shyamalan over the years for his long run of shitty movies, but he completely surprised me with The Visit, which I really enjoyed, and his upcoming thriller, Split, looks pretty great as well.
It looks like Shyamalan has found his groove. Hopefully he can keep it...

John Krasinski is set to executive produce single-camera family sitcom “My Bad Parent” at Fox, which gave his Sunday Night Productions a script order plus penalty. “My Bad Parent” hails from “Family Guy” scribe Alex Carter. The project — inspired by the book and blog of the same name — reminds us we’re not alone in our parenting faux pas, per Fox. It follows a blue-collar, loving-yet-imperfect family with a point of view that alternates between the blunt working mother and her pubescent son. Carter, Allyson Seeger, Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim will executive produce alongside the “Office” alum. “My Bad Parent” also has roots.

Fox has given a 13-episode pickup to "Bordertown," a new animated comedy from the network's patron saint, Seth MacFarlane. "Bordertown," ordered late Friday (November 8) afternoon, was actually created by "Family Guy" veteran Mark Hentemann, with MacFarlane executive producing. Alex Carter and Dan Vebber will co-executive produce the 20th Century Fox TV series. Set in a fictional border town -- hence, you know, the name -- "Bordertown" focuses on neighbors Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzalez. Bud is, of course, a Border Patrol agent, married with three kids and feeling threatened by the cultural changes in his country. Ernesto is,...

Seth MacFarlane is taking on immigration and the undergoing cultural shift in America. Seriously. With American Dad! moving to TBS and The Cleveland Show quietly getting cancelled, MacFarlane‘s animated presence on Fox had gone down to one show, flagship Family Guy. It will now be joined by a new animated comedy series next season, as Fox has given a 13-episode order to Bordertown, from MacFarlane and Family Guy‘s Mark Hentemann. Set in a fictitious desert town near the U.S.-Mexico border, Bordertown centers on the intertwining daily lives of neighbors Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales. Bud, a married father of three, is a Border Patrol agent who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood. Living next door is Ernesto, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross,...

In yesterday’s installment, we gave you a look at how Fox was working to create an all-gamer friendly Mmo in Family Guy Online. But more than anything else, the drive for the assembled teams working on the game appears to be getting as much fidelity to the show as possible. That means the extensive use of characters, locations, and voiceover from the show.
In this installment, we’ll look at how the assembled teams behind Family Guy Online worked to create a virtual Quahog—right down to details that weren’t even in the show—into this Fox Mmo.
If you were wondering how the Griffins would function in Fgo, the dysfunctional clan will be quest givers in the game and are voiced by the actors from the show. Peter, Meg, Chris, Stewie, Brian, and Lois will dole out story-based assignments in and around Quahog. And of course, each...
