Nick wades into another stack of DVD releases, including 80s action epic Remo: Unarmed And Dangerous, and lots more besides...
"Whatever happened to Fred Ward?" is a line surely on the tip of most people’s tongues. Apparently, the star of Tremors and The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult has mostly been doing TV work over the last few years, though you’ll almost certainly remember him as the charismatic star of 1985’s Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. No? Well, shame on you, because Remo, making a welcome Blu-Ray debut, leads this month’s action-packed, erm, action special.
If you weren’t one of the lucky few that grew up with the preposterous movie otherwise known as Remo: Unarmed And Dangerous punctuating their childhood, we’ll fill you in. Riding on the success of the Rambo films (essentially, the only tenuous link being the vaguely similar name), Bond director...

Documentary film-maker Chelsea (Kinga Phillips) descends into the dank tunnels below New York to make a movie lifting the lid on the city's socially deprived outcasts. Instead, she runs into a murderous death cult following charismatic overlord Angel (Danny Trejo). He wants to "punish the corporate and materialistic devotees of the system" and there's only Chelsea plus rogue derelict ex-cop, Jake (Frank Krueger) standing in his way.

The move from feature film to web series isn’t always a smooth jaunt through the editing bay. For writer-director Marc Clebanoff that meant a hard look at what he had in his hands—a gritty indie action flick that would also prove to be one of David Carradine’s final films. But after taking their film Break out with modest success in the saturated indie market, he and Frank Krueger (who also stars in the film), re-imagined the whole project as a serialized online release, hoping new life as a web series would draw some critical attention that passed over its previous incarnation. After months in the editing room trying to pick apart a 93-minute narrative into an episodic, the team soft-launched their new series, now called No Clean Break on KoldCast in December. And this week, with the release of their fourth episode, the pair are looking to...

Full Force Films is one of three production companies that brought Break to audiences in 2009. The film is action and thriller rolled in one with some genre favourites starring. Michael Madsen, David Carridine, Chad Everett and Brooke Lewis connive, backstab, and seduce each other through much of the conflicted film. The message is simple; love hurts, but love is also worth fighting for.
Characters Frank (Frank Krueger) and The Man (Everett) square off for the beautiful Woman (Sarah Thompson). A threesome is one too many and several characters learn this the hard way. Dark dealings in the underworld of hitmen and murder culminates in several physical fights that prove women are not always the weaker sex.
The ensemble cast gets bits and pieces of screen time, but centrally Break is a film about the lovers Frank and The Woman. Madsen offers his usual tough guy routine...

"Actress Brooke Lewis stopped by to tell us about her body of work being released in 2009. One cool, action flick that caught my attention was 'Break.' Brooke shares the opening scene in the film with actors Frank Krueger and James Russo. The film is directed by Marc Clebanoff and some of the stars include: Michael Madsen, the late David Carradine, Chad Everett and Sarah Thompson."

Packed with amazing fight scenes and surprising plot twists, noir thriller Break debuts on DVD July 14 from Cinema Epoch. Featuring an ensemble cast of comic book style characters including veteran actors Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Free Willy) and David Carradine (Kill Bill), the film shares the seedy, urban underworld of Frank (Frank Krueger), a detached hit man hired by the city’s crime boss to carry out his dying wish. Bonus features include behind-the-scenes featurette, cast interviews and deleted scenes. With a successful run on the festival circuit, picking up awards for Best ...
