Sue Mengers was born on September 2, 1932 in Hamburg, Germany. She was married to Jean-Claude Tramont. She died on October 15, 2011 in Beverly Hills, California, USA.
Dyan Cannon's character "Christine" in The Last of Sheila (1973) was based on Mengers, as was Shelley Winters's character "Eva Brown" in S.O.B. (1981), which starred Julie Andrews and was directed by Andrews's husband Blake Edwards. In response to this latter satirical portrayal of her, Mengers responded to the Edwardses with this: "An Alp should fall on their house.".
Portrayed by Bette Midler in playwright John Logan's one-woman play "I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers" with direction by Joe Mantello (Booth Theatre New York).
