Jeopardy! contestants have shared some interesting anecdotes over the past 60 years, including Austin Rogers meeting the Dalai Lama and Meike Olin dating five men in one day. However, Ferdinand Percentie’s personal tale on Monday’s (April 29) episode is going to take some beating. And fans are wondering if it was the best anecdote ever. As reported by The Mirror, during the show’s anecdote section, Percentie revealed to host Ken Jennings that his grandmother inspired the hit Jimmy Buffett song “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Percentie said his family comes from a small island in the Bahamas, Harbor Island, and “According to family lore, Jimmy Buffett came to the hotel/restaurant my grandma founded and [he] had a cheeseburger there. That was his inspiration to write Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Jennings was impressed, telling Percentie, “Your grandmother’s cheeseburgers were so good that he wrote a hit song about them. That is amazing.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the March 25 episode of Jeopardy!] Amy Schneider was “very hard to beat,” as host Ken Jennings put it, in the latest Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament game, and already fans think that her win is foreshadowing the outcome of the entire tournament. The writer who was a 40-game champion, won the 2022 Tournament of Champions, and previously finished in fifth in the Jeopardy Masters faced off against 12-game champion Austin Rogers, a bar owner who was the 2017 Tournament of Champions second runner-up and All-Star Games participant, and five-game champion Celeste Dinucci, an arts strategist who was the 2007 Tournament of Champions winner and Battle of the Decades participant. Players are competing to win $100,000 and an invitation to compete in the 2024 Jeopardy Masters tournament. Jennings was right, that it was hard to beat and even “hard to catch” Schneider with her score. She led at every break and found two of the three Daily Doubles. (Rogers found the ...

For 35 years “Jeopardy” has thrived in the syndication market as a game show that CBS Television Distribution president of sales Stephen Hackett calls “reliable but never predictable.” Although the technology of the series has evolved over time, the format is tried and true: a trio of contestants compete in a three-round quiz show featuring clues that range from history and literature to science, sports and the arts. But in order to better celebrate that special anniversary, the team behind the show crafted its first-ever “All-Stars Games.”
“What Harry Friedman and the team has had is the ability to take a very simple format and slightly change it and tweak it and enhance it over the years,” says Mike Hopkins, chairman of Sony Pictures Television. “They’re very smart about the new elements they put in, and it evolves.
