EastEnders stars Danny Dyer and Maddy Hill were among the major soap winners at the 20th National Television Awards.
The BBC One soap preceded its upcoming anniversary week by beating Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Emmerdale to Best Serial Drama.
Dyer collected the Serial Drama Performance prize in a category that pitted him against EastEnders co-star Kellie Bright, among others.
"I'll have [the award] Monday and Wednesday, you'll have it Tuesday and Thursday. I'll have it weekends," he joked to Bright in his acceptance speech.
He continued: "I want to thank my kids… Without them, I'd be a tenth of the man I am today. And that ain't much, I'll tell you!"
Bright previously denied any rivalry between herself and Dyer over the award, explaining that she was simply pleased that both were nominated.

Seventeen year old Hetti Bywater, a client of Mark Jermin Management has landed the role of wild child Lucy Beale in BBC soap Eastenders.
Hetti has already started filming as the young iconic character.
Lucy returns to the square after spending some time in Devon after hearing some sad news. She is the daughter of Cindy and business man Ian Beale and will return to our screens as spoilt, arrogant and smarter than most teens but deep down insecure.
Hetty has been a student at The Theatre Workshop in Sussex for the last 8 years, and has previously secured roles in BBC Casualty, Doctors and this year a leading role in a feature film Counting Backwards directed by Sean De Sparango. She was also cast in the British film St George's Day acting alongside Charles Dance and Nick Moran, directed by Frank Harper.

Tiny distributor Oscillope earned our goodwill less than a year ago by coaxing some theatrical life out of the largely unmarketable but worthy and delicate gem Wendy & Lucy. My how that film lingers. They've just released the poster for their latest release The Messenger. It's the directorial debut of Oren Moverman who previously crafted screenplays for must-see arthouse titles like Jesus Son and I'm Not There.

What message are you getting from The Messenger's poster? I think it's striking. The backwards flag in the title -- nice design element there -- leads me to believe this isn't a happy or blindly patriotic war movie. Yep, it's about an Iraq war vet (Ben Foster) assigned to the Casualty Notification service. I don't like to know any more about plots than that before I see a movie. I hope this doesn't sound callous but I hope Samantha Morton suffers like Job.
