Two days after Super Bowl Lvi and two weeks after Tom Brady’s retirement comes word of a new docuseries about the Goat quarterback’s years with the New England Patriots. Apple TV+ has ordered The Dynasty, a 10-part docuseries about the NFL team’s amazing run of success.
The project from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries, in association with NFL Films, is based on Jeff Benedict’s nonfiction bestseller, for which the author spent two years inside the organization and covered its unprecedented near-20-year domination of the league.
Brady and Coach Bill Belichick led the club owned by Robert Kraft to an unmatched — and often unthinkable — six Super Bowl championships stretching from the 2001 season to 2018, losing in the title game three other times. Brady went on to win another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2020 season.

When ABC News producer and investigative reporter James Gordon Meek first heard about the deadly terrorist ambush of a U.S. Special forces team in Niger on Oct. 4, 2017, he said that he and others at the network were quickly met with the Pentagon’s shifting version of events.
“When this happened, we could not get two people to tell us the same story,” Meek told Deadline. “We couldn’t even get people to tell us whether there were 10 or 11 Americans that were ambushed, or there were 50.”
As they pursued the story and interviewed family members of the fallen soldiers, they eventually saw a much larger project beyond breaking news updates or a more in-depth news magazine piece. Instead, they created a feature-length documentary, 3212 Un-Redacted, debuting on Hulu on Thursday, Veteran’s Day.
The documentary shows what happened as the unit was caught in a surprise Isis attack in outside the Saharan village of Tongo Tongo.

In March 2020, just after New York City shut down due to Covid-19, Matthew Heineman picked up his camera and embedded with a group of healthcare workers at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens. For the next three months, the director and a skeleton crew captured doctors, nurses, and medical technicians as they battled to keep Covid patients alive and the virus at bay at one of the country’s hardest-hit hospitals.
The result of Heineman’s efforts is “The First Wave” – a documentary that will have its world premiere and serve as the opening night film at the 29th Hamptons Intl. Film Festival on Oct. 7.
Besides documenting the devastating physical and emotional impact the pandemic had on hospital staff, the verité film executive produced by Alex Gibney and produced by Leslie Norville and Jenna Millman follows Covid patients who recovered at the hospital for months as well as their family members back home.
