Although he was part of
Bad Company's classic lineup, the band was
initially reluctant to let him join, as they were not fond of Burrell's
previous band,
King Crimson. He was at the bottom of the band's
"potential bassists" list. When they discovered how well he could play
bass, and keep up with the rest of the band without any help, they
hired him immediately.
