Washed up on an unknown shore after being caught in a storm, a band of Vikings manage to find a hostage and cross into enemy lines with thoughts of gold and safe passage. However, they soon find themselves hunted for their prize and a panicked race begins. The losers will pay with their lives.
Northmen is about a group of Vikings, some who have a Viking-y accent, others (like the main man, Asbjorn) who are surprisingly English. Trapped in Scotland (the horror!), they find themselves a Princess they take hostage (she has a Scottish accent, which is handy). Thus begins an epic journey across Scotland (the horror!) to...

Tobias Santelmann, who stars as one of the brawny sailors on Thor Heyerdahl's raft in Norway's Oscar-nominated "Kon-Tiki," has been cast as Viking leader Asbjorn in "Northmen -- A Viking Saga." In the film, Asbjorn is stranded behind enemy lines on the coast of Alba with his Vikings. Their only hope for survival is to find a route to the Viking settlement Danelag, voyaging through hostile lands and fending off vicious mercenaries. The film will be helmed by Claudio Faeh ("Sniper: Reloaded") and is co-penned by Mattias Bauer and Bastian Zach. Santelmann can be seen in the above photo scooping a CG shark by its tail. Meanwhile, Iceland's Baltasar Kormakur, who directed the country's shortlisted Oscar entry "The Deep," is planning a Viking film of his own (our interview with more details on the project is here). Our Toh! review of "Kon-Tiki," which will be released by the Weinstein Co.

Horror films remind us that taking drugs is bad, very bad. Markus Welter's One Way Trip 3D cements this party line by showing all sorts of pandemonium. In the trailer below, a few nature lovers partake in the ancient ritual of magic mushroom eating and soon, they are either falling off of buildings, being burned alive, or the tried-and-true - being impaled by a sharp spike. At the midpoint of the clip, all of the characters look distressed in some way and Welter would remind horror fans to never, ever use drugs (not even coffee)!

The cast is headlined by Sabrina Reiter, Melanie Winiger, Herbert Leiser, and Martin Loos. Ah, the slasher film. So good. So gory. So deliciously slicey dicey! If My Bloody Valentine 3D proved anything, it was that the notion of bodies being horribly eviscerated in 3D can be lots of fun! The good news? There's a brand new slasher coming our way that's looking to fill all three dimensions with gore!
According to Screen Daily Zurich-based HesseGreutert Film and Vienna’s Superfilm are to co-produce the first 3D feature film to come from Switzerland and Austria. Markus Welter's One Way Trip, which is described by the producers as "an intelligent slasher film with Gothic elements and an unexpected ending", is set to begin its six-week shoot from the end of September.

Hesse Greutert Film and director Markus Welter are about to take a One Way Trip ...in 3-D, of course. Matthias Bauer and Bastian Zach penned the script which is being described as "an intelligent slasher-film with gothic elements and an unexpected ending." With a bit of digging, we've found a lengthy plot synopsis to share. Eight young people drive into the Swiss Jura region, food and tents in the trunk. It's autumn and high season for a magic mushroom that grows there, the reason for their trip. After a few problems they arrive at the desired location deep in the woods, the tents are set up, the mushrooms are collected and when it gets dark the party starts. Everything is fine until one of the kids goes to get beer and comes back with a blood-covered and smashed...
