Maury Povich is retiring and bringing an end to his tabloid talk show “Maury” in September after 31 long seasons and 24 with NBCUniversal.
“Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my the NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show,” Maury said in a statement. “Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal. I’m so proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and all those who worked on the ‘Maury’ show but as I occasionally tell my guests on ‘Maury,’ ‘Enough, already!'”
Tracie Wilson, Executive Vice President, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, added, “Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the farewell season for the show, and while his retirement is bittersweet, we are so happy for him to be...

Get those paternity tests in now, because “Maury” won’t help you find out whether you’re the father beyond this September. “Maury” is the latest daytime talker to announce that it’s ceasing production in 2022, in what is now amounting to a major shift in the daypart.
Maury Povich is ending his run and retiring after 24 seasons of hosting “Maury” for NBCUniversal Syndication Studios (and its predecessors) — and seven seasons before that at Paramount Domestic Television, where it was titled “The Maury Povich Show.” Most recently, NBCU had renewed “Maury” in February 2020 for two more seasons in national syndication, bringing it through 2022.
Povich’s exit comes as NBCU also ends another first-run syndicated series, “Judge Jerry,” hosted by Jerry Springer, after three seasons. And the daytime talk landscape is being remade as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Nick Cannon” and “The Wendy Williams Show” all say farewell.

Update Sunday Am: NBCUniversal on Sunday confirmed that its daytime syndicated talk show Maury will be wrapping with the current season, saying that it was a mutual decision between the studio and veteran host Maury Povich to end the talker made when Maury was most recently renewed in 2020 through the 2021-22 season.
“Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the farewell season for the show, and while his retirement is bittersweet, we are so happy for him to be able to spend more time on the golf course,” Tracie Wilson, EVP, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, said in a statement to Deadline. “Maury is a television icon, a pop culture legend and we couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of his incredible career.”
Povich traced the end of his long-running show further back.

In the market for a “hilarious party game for adults”? NBCUniversal Television Distribution has adapted its trashy talk show “Maury” into a board game called “The Maury Show: You Are Not the Father.”
The very real game is currently available for preorder on Amazon and will be shipped beginning Nov. 27. Yeah, just in time for Thanksgiving — a holiday that clearly needs more familial arguing.
Below is how the game is described by NBCU.
The show is known for its compelling relationship drama, family issues, infidelity, and signature paternity tests. “The Maury Game: You Are Not The Father” will allow players to clear their name, “Maury”-style, with this hilarious party game for adults. The game challenges players to prove their non-paternity through a series of outrageous accusations and laugh-out-loud arguments.
At the end, a paternity test is “performed” and the “results” lie in each player’s Test Results envelope. Play...

Trisha Goddard joins NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution‘s other freshman daily syndicated talk show, Steve Harvey, with a renewal for a second season in national syndication. Unlike Steve Harvey, which has been a breakout hit, Trisha Goddard has been the lowest-rated among the new syndicated talk shows this season, partly because the show started in far-less-trafficked time slots. Since its debut, the one-hour talk show has been upgraded in major markets including Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, Las Vegas and more. That has helped Trisha grow in the ratings since its debut while also improving its time periods. In the November 2012 sweep, the show’s viewership increased 23% vs. its premiere week. The conflict talk show, executive produced by Paul Faulhaber and hosted by TV personality Goddard, has been renewed in more than 85% of the country. Trisha Goddard is distributed in national syndication by NBCU and produced by Stamford Media Center Prods,...

NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution’s new syndicated talk show Trisha, a spinoff from the company’s veteran Maury, is now a go for fall with clearances in more than 80% of the U.S., including 27 of the top 30 markets. Trisha‘s core station group is Sinclair, which picked up the series hosted by popular British talk-show host Trisha Goddard in October. At the time, the show had not been firmed up for a national rollout because it was yet to find stations in the top three markets — New York Los Angeles and Chicago — something it has now accomplished. Over the past several seasons, Goddard served as a guest host and conflict expert on Maury, and her new show is expected to focus on conflict resolution. Maury executive producer Paul Faulhaber will also executive produce the offshoot. This is now the fifth syndicated talk show to launch nationally in the fall, along...
