Recently SciFi Mafia had the opportunity to talk with the lovely Seychelle Gabriel, whom we get to watch on Sundays in TNT’s post-alien-invasion series Falling Skies. We talked a bit about the new season of Falling Skies as well as her voice work on Legend of Korra, and her new experiences with sci-fi fans.
We began with Falling Skies. She plays Lourdes, a pre-med student who assists Dr. Anne Glass, played by Moon Bloodgood, in caring for everyone in the 2nd Mass, the group of survivors led by Tom Mason (Noah Wyle). I asked her about the conditions of the Season 2 shoot, which by all accounts was pretty grueling.
We were shooting at the worst time to go to Vancouver, October to February. It’s just beautiful, but it was cold… It was definitely more challenging. We were outside a lot more, we were changing locations pretty constantly. What our characters are experiencing,...

In a strong ensemble series like TNT’s alien series Falling Skies, each character is given a chance to shine and now that the show is in its second season, more of the characters that were briefly introduced last season are beginning to see growth and challenges ahead. Such as in the first season, Seychelle Gabriel’s character Lourdes was just an eager young medical trainee anxious to learn and contribute to the resistance. Yet this season, Lourdes is blossoming into a young woman with confidence in her abilities and who has caught the eye of an engineer who joined up with the 2nd Mass, Jamil (Brandon Jay McLaren). In an exclusive interview, rising star Seychelle Gabriel talked about what she is enjoying in the second season of Falling Skies.
After two seasons working on Falling Skies what do you most appreciate about the show?
Seychelle: My castmates.
Can you elaborate?...

Vb today announced its search to bring together the families of the diggers pictured in the iconic image of twelve Anzacs that inspired the original Raise A Glass campaign.
The campaign launch centres around an emotive Tvc created by Droga 5 that features Bree Till, the widow of serviceman Brett Till, who died on active service in Afghanistan in 2009.
The idea for the reunion was prompted by two Australian families who approached Vb, believing their relatives to be in the photo. The diggers were part of the 13th Platoon, D Company in the 2nd/1st Machine Gun Battalion stationed in Egypt 1941.
This year Vb is donating $1m to campaign partners Legacy and the Returned and Services League (Rsl). Over $4.7m has been raised since 2009 when the campaign began. The donations go towards providing care and support for the service community.
