Currently in development, the film will trace the brothers’ life-long relationship from humble beginnings in Louisville to their respective boxing careers, civil rights struggles and their battle with Parkinson’s disease.
A talented boxer in his own right, Rahaman took a back seat to Ali’s successes. Despite their at times contentious relationship, Rahaman dedicated his life to the sport and to his brother’s career; training alongside Ali as his top sparring partner, under the tutelage of Joe Martin and Angelo Dundee.
“I miss my brother dearly,” said Rahaman. “He loved and was kind to people. He was a very generous man and I always felt our lives were blessed. I am so excited...

It was then that Martin suggested to the 12-year-old Clay that he learn how to box and began training him. Martin would be Clay’s trainer throughout his six-year amateur career. The Hunger Games’ next installment, Mockingjay Pt. 1, is headed to a big holiday box office win, if social-media support is any indicator of the strength of its fan base and their interest in the property, says Adobe’s Digital Index analytics unit in its latest look at a season of blockbusters.
Interstellar, Dumb And Dumber To and the last of The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle Of The Five Armies, all are also headed to profitable domestic runs, Adobe says, but Exodus: Gods And Kings, Ridley Scott‘s Biblical tale, better pray for fan enlightenment a month out from its debut.
And one last unexpected bit: Adobe analysts say The Imitation Game, an indie biopic featuring Internet darling Benedict Cumberbatch (also the voice of the dragon in The Five Armies), is a “potential surprise hit,” even as the Weinstein Company pushes it for Oscar glory in some unexpected sectors.

Greetings Binxians. Last week’s All My Children was a blaze of glory, culminating with Bianca’s ferocious lioness-like smackdown of Jr. This week’s AMC however, was more like a mewling lamb. We didn’t get much Bianca, and based on her dialogue this week, I fear she may be absent for a bit. It did give us a chance to catch up of some of the other characters in Pine Valley, but I know what you want. Binx. Binx. Binx. So, let’s start off on a good note.
Bianca and Miranda meet up at, where else, Jane’s Addiction. Both are in better spirits since their unfortunate experience in the Chandler Thunderdome. Just last week, Indiewire ran a popular interview independent filmmaker Alex Ross Perry ("The Color Wheel") did with Joe Martin, the longtime proprietor of Brooklyn rental store Reel Life, which closed its doors at the end of last month. The piece struck a chord with our readers, many of whom lamented the loss of independently run video stores. And then, around the time we published the feature, Manhattan's beloved video store, World of Video, also announced they will be closing shop. As of this month, the store -- founded by Linda Samuels, Mitchell Pickman and Charlie Grappone -- has been serving customers for a whopping 29 years. They're now located at 51 Greenwich Avenue in the West Village, following a move from a previous location nearby. "The writing was on the wall depending on the rent here," Samuels said from the store, which closes April 28. "Even with a smaller location, the rent...

Indiewire is a big fan of the microbudget film review site Hammer to Nail, as well as filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, whose "The Color Wheel" won the title of Best Undistributed Film in last year's critics' poll. So we were excited to see Perry's name in Hammer to Nail this past week with an essay/interview that reflected his Diy ethos. Perry's interview with Joe Martin, the longtime proprietor of Brooklyn rental store Reel Life--which closes its doors for good at the end of this month--is an unexpectedly heartfelt tribute to the deterioration of the physical video store. Perry and Hammer to Nail editor Michael Tully have graciously allowed us to republish the interview here in full. --Indiewire editors __________________________________________________ On Sunday March 18, 2012, I was walking around the neighborhood where I live—Park Slope, Brooklyn -- thinking about places where I would be able to display promotional posters for the release of my.

"When I wrote 120 Malay Movies I tried to watch all of the 34 movies that P Ramlee directed. I almost succeeded." Amir Muhammad (The Last Communist, Malaysian Gods) would eventually see 33; Sitora Harimau Jadian (1964) seems to have been lost. He tells us the story of how he came upon what amounts to P Ramlee's own novelization of Sitora Harimau Jadian, "describing what happens in his movie, scene by scene. The book is slim, only 124 pages, and I'm glad it was also fleshed out with pictures from the movie (which might be the only chance we will ever get to 'see' it)." He gives us a sample and then announces that he's republishing the book, which will be out next month and already has a fan page.

Louisville, Ky. — Long before his dazzling footwork and punching prowess made him a three-time world heavyweight boxing champion known as Muhammad Ali, a young Cassius Clay honed his skills by sparring with neighborhood friends and running alongside the bus on the way to school.
The man who became the world's most recognizable athlete was a baby sitter, a jokester and a dreamer in the predominantly black West End neighborhood of Louisville where he grew up and forged lasting friendships while beginning his ascent toward greatness.
Now, as the iconic boxer slowed by Parkinson's disease prepares to turn 70 next week, he's coming home for a birthday bash at the downtown cultural center and museum that bears his name. The private party Saturday night will double as a fundraiser for the 6-year-old Muhammad Ali Center, which promotes ideals of tolerance, respect and individual achievement.
