She was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on October 18, 2001 and Invested on August 31, 2002 for her services to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A well-known philanthropist and patron of the arts where she did volunteer work on behalf of numerous cultural, social and health care organizations. She was an honorary trustee of the Royal Ontario Museum, she served as director of many organizations, including Opera Atelier and Telefilm Canada. She was Chairperson and long-time volunteer of the Canadian Foundation for Aids Research (CANFAR) she has raised awareness of the broad and complex issues surrounding HIV infection and AIDS. A pillar of Canadian society, she improved the quality of life of her fellow citizens. This is a promotion within the Order.
