Spain’s Onza Distribution has picked up international sales rights to Czech Republic hit period drama “Zlatá labut’” (“Golden Swan”).
Onza will be presenting the show to the international market at the upcoming Series Mania TV festival.
The series has been created by Filip Bobinski, Jan Coufal and Petr Sizling at Prague-based Dramedy Productions for Czech broadcaster TV Nova.
“Golden Swan,” a series, travels back to 1939, during the protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia under Nazi occupation, at the beginning of World War II, and follows young thief Bára Veselá, who enters the Golden Swan luxury department store in Prague while escaping from the police. After a series of accidents and mistakes, she becomes a saleswoman in the fashion department.
A new life opens up for Bára when owner Petr, son of the Kučera family, notices her. They fall in love with each other although they have to battle to satin their relationship during war.

A host of global independent producers attending the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival have voiced their concerns on the issue of IP retention when it comes to working with the streamers in their local territories and are urging more agreeable terms in partnerships.
“You cannot run a company out of a producing fee, you have to run it based on exploiting the IP,” said Czech producer Filip Bobiñski, co-founder of Dramedy Productions and a board member of the European Association of Independent Producers.
In a panel hosted by Deadline and Ace Producers at Kviff’s Industry Days program, Bobiñski was joined by Birdman producer John Lesher from the U.S., Roma producer Nicolás Celis from Mexico and Polish producer Joanna Szymańska to discuss the opportunities and challenges of producing with the streamers in the post-pandemic ecosystem.
