- Mike was adopted before he was born and raised in Massapequa, Long Island. His father Joseph A. Funk served in the military for thirty-six years while his mother Jeanne was a housewife who raised Mike as well as his three sisters; Jeanne, Carol and Susan.
After graduating high school Mike was accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he majored in Film Scoring. After completing his studies, Mike attended The Acting Studio in New York City, led by the studio director James Price, who previously taught at the Neighborhood Playhouse under the tutelage of Mr. Sanford Meisner.
